1.) Leighton Vander Esch 6’4 245 ILB Boise St- As much as I prefer Roquan Smith and Tremaine Edmunds those bad asses will be long gone by the time the Steelers pick. Most mocks I’ve read have this kid going outside round 1 but a strong combine shoots him up the draft board

2.) Vic Beasley 6’3 246 EDGE Atlanta Falcons- “Drama you two bit redneck peckerwood! The Falcons aren’t trading Vic Beasley to the Steelers for a first round pick let alone a measly 2nd." Probably not but hear me out. After rookie Duke Riley failed to impress then was lost for the year due to injury, Beasley was moved to strong side linebacker in Dan Quinn’s version of the Seattle 4-3. He wasn’t terrible but he’s not a 4-3 linebacker. With his sack total dropping from 15.5 to 5, Quinn says he moving Beasley back to full time DE. In theory, he and rookie stud Tak Mckinnley would make a fearsome duo, but I don’t think Beasley can hold up at DE. I think he’s a square peg in Quinn’s round hole. I’d like to see what he can do coming off the edge in a 3-4. Perhaps the Steelers would too.

3.) Earl Thomas 5’10 202 FS Seattle Seahawks- You don’t see Seattle trading him? “Well, how’d you like to kiss my sister’s black cat’s ass?” The Seahawks covet day 2 picks and Thomas seems to want out. I know he isn’t the stud he used to be but Thomas is exactly the type of veteran the deep patrol needs to recover from the disaster that was Mike Mitchell.

5T) Folorunso Fatukasi 6’4 318 NT UConn- Big, athletic ‘sum bitch that can wreak some havoc up the middle. A piece of clay for new DL coach Karl Dunbar to mold.

5) Tegray Scales 6’0 228 ILB Indiana- Not the biggest fella but kid is a missile chasing plays to the sideline something Vince Williams can’t do.

7T.) Chris Worley 6’1 232 ILB Ohio St- While I believe teammate Jerome Baker to be vastly overrated, I think Worley is being underrated. Kid is really solid in the middle strong against the run and able to play all 3 downs. Day 3 steal right here

7) Phillip Lindsay 5’8 190 RB Colorado- “He’s 6’5 with the afro 6’9” Ok he’s just a little fella but the “tazmanian devil” here goes full tilt on every play. Trust me youtube is your friend on this kid. Very fun to watch “Feet move like beaters on a hand mixer.” Heart of a lion this kid has. Dig him.

Ok maybe I’m not your Judas Goat but I want the Steelers back in the Super Bowl. I’m only half kidding with the outlandish trade talk. It’s just frustrating to sit down on a rainy Saturday evening and look at the available defensive talent then wonder what the point is when chances are they won’t get the coaching they need to succeed anyway.

Have we officially reached the National Lampoon '80 version of the draft process where we're out of ideas and just smoke too much pot/snort too much cocaine?

Last couple of years, I've really been trying to get over my distaste for Penn State players of recent vintage. I was being unfair and, to be fair, a couple of them were okay. That being said, I don't see what ANYONE sees in Marcus Allen, other than he's got a famous name. He's got issues tackling and covering... other than that...

What is it you see?

Turn it around.. tell me who on the Steelers Roster is better than Allen.. Come on look at the shit we have been putting on the field.. I know Allen is green but damn I think he is better than average rookie.. with huge upside..
I thought the kid was pretty damn good for PSU. He could be great for this team..
I think that's like you saying, Barkley is just an average player..

Nah Barkley is a big outlier talent. He has a couple of significant warts that someone will hope to train out of him but he’s cut of a different class than most RBs.

I think Allen is raw but I also don’t think he’s going to test very well and I don’t like his tape. Being better than the Steelers’ safeties is not a standard I’m interested in.

I am not happy with any safeties in this class.

I mean, I don't hate Allen the player... as a mid round or late round pick. He's a good tackler and would be a core STs guy. He reminds me too much of Robert Golden and Mike Mitchell. Guess I'm afraid the Steelers will love him.

I think there are about 5 or 6 really good ones.
