According to Howard Balzer, the Pittsburgh Steelers brought in three free agents for tryouts on Wednesday including S Ironhead Gallon, S Deron Washington and DE Praise Martin-Oguike. http://nfltraderumors.co/steelers-worked-three-players/
SS Gallon is a slow smurf. FS Washington has lightning speed and the length. Cardinals signed DE Martin-Oguike to a futures deal yesterday. @davidcanter Congratulations to #TeamDEC client @MartinPraiseO on signing with @AZCardinals https://twitter.com/davidcanter/status/ ... 4720277506

The Steelers signed Matt Feiler to a one-year contract extension, getting it done before free agency when he would have become an exclusive rights free agent. http://www.steelers.com/news/transactio ... 87770a7aa0
I suppose with this signing it can be viewed as par for the course. I think Feiler is a real decent OLineman. I think OLine will not be on the to do list in the 2018 draft. I believe they're preparing for a heavy defensive draft. ILB, Safety, Edge perhaps DT and eventually a WR, maybe even a RB... Feiler is a Good Signing.

There is no downside to a team offering all of it's ERFA a contact. It is not guaranteed and at worst it is a camp body.

I think Hubbard moves on to a starting job and Hawkins and Feiler move up for the swing tackle spots. At best they get a OG that can play other spots on the line.

Steelers re-signed P Jordan Berry to a one-year contract.
The Steelers' punter since 2015, Berry had been headed for restricted free agency. Berry's 39.8 net punting average was just 23rd in the league in 2017.

One of my Airmen is Trey Griffey's cousin, and told me that Trey signed a futures contract with the Steelers.

He also said they signed him because "they were losing two receivers" this off-season. I found the latter interesting.

Edit: I guess I missed the report. http://www.post-gazette.com/sports/stee ... 1801290128

Wouldn’t totally shock me if they traded or released Martavis Bryant if he’s not in their long term plans

Hunter is one. If they can't get a deal done with Rogers he could be gone. Although, he is a RFA so I expect he'll be back. Perhaps Heyward-Bey decides to hang 'em up?

Drama.
That would be insane.

Kid has stayed clean.
Worked hard.
And hopefully as he ages, continues to mature........and get it.

The offensive game plan basically ignored him the first 5-6+ games.

I hope Ben and Fictner have a much smarter offense from game 1 of the 2018 season.

Not a big Hunter fan.
I think he has one route, a deep go down the right sideline.
Limited in my eyes. In person he is still very slight and thin.
He did not have many offensive snaps on the year.
Seems like he entered the huddle, the play was to him and Ben was throwing it pre-snap read be damned.
He was signed last year to compete with coates as insurance on MB.
Was somewhere 5th thru 7th on the WR depth chart breaking camp.........AB, MB, Eli, JuJu, Coates, DHB, Hunter

AB
Bryant
JuJu.

Time to move on from DHB. But he provbably will be in camp, knowing there is not much after the first three, MB, and DHB is one of Tomlins anchors*.
His base salary is $1.2 million with a $133,000 bonus already paid. Hence, of the $1,330,000.............the Steelers can save $1.2 million in cap space by releasing him.
Not sure when a player has to be cut before the base salary is locked in? Last round of Cuts in first week of September?

If Eli plays football in 2018, his best bet may be to sign with the PS. Not sure if any teams will be looking to sign another teams 4th best WR coming of an ACL.
Hunter is an UFA. The paid him $855k last year. He may be invited to camp on a similar deal.

If DHB, Eli and Hunter are all not back. The Steelers need to sign a FA wide rec. or two. One of them just may be Hunter again for $900k, as the 5th or 6th guy and continuity. I would opt for a younger guy who can play ST's.
They also need to draft a WR.
I will assume its the annual 3rd or 4th round draft pick going to the WR spot.

We have signed OL B.J. Finney to a one-year contract extension. https://twitter.com/steelers/status/962 ... tension%2F
Good lock him down for another season. Perhaps look into completing a long term contract as Foster is long in the tooth and Finney is the logical next man up at LG.

There better be next to no guaranteed money on this deal. Good player but not someone you commit anything meaningful to.

If it’s part of a strategy to lure a quality FA for the D

If it’s part of a plan to overpay for Bell I’m gonna be pissed

Or if it's part of a strategy to allow them to keep Mitchell and Wilcox.
