SI/Mmqb about the only site left I regularly read. Every once in a while they write a good piece this was one of them. Lot of talk especially from worst player on the defense. Hopefully they back it up this post season.

Wow... truly heartfelt joy reading about the camaraderie those players talk about having. I miss those close knit team sports too. Us against the world. As a working man working with a bunch of dudes just isn't the same kind of camaraderie. Yeah there's the co-worker camaraderie but I believe that's different. On a completely different level. Friendly, competition between yourselves and then combining and applying that competing camaraderie against the world together as a team is much more profound IMO.

Maybe Mitchell can make a fucking play on the ball this weekend instead of flapping his gums? Ugh

Mitchell's an idiot. I must've told him that, he blocked me on Twitter. He's got a pretty thin skin for a guy who runs his mouth all the time.

I use the saying, "flapping the gums" myself............so had me laughing out loud.
Yeah. MM getting his fingertips on one single pass will certainly help.
he has zero INTs and i think he has only 2 passes defended.
do not recall him getting his hands on a single ball this year.
but stats show he had one PD vs. Chicago and one vs Minny.

With Sean Davis probably playing close to the box to stop the run and possibly keep a spying eye on Bortles,
we will be asking Mitchell to cover more ground than usual.

great article. thanks for posting

The only time I notice Mitchell - and it's a lot - he's usually a good two steps out of the play. It's like playing 10 on 11.

Stupid and slow is no way to be playing football.

Ouch. There are LB w/ better stats than that. Makes me wonder if they would better off w/ Mitchell and Davis switching spots. Not good at all especially for a starting FS in this league.

yes,
seems like he compensates for his lack of speed by playing another 5-7 yards deeper than he should.
Probably creating better angles for himself with the added depth.
It just does not allow him to make plays on the ball.

He clocked a 4.45 40 which is blazing for a safety. Either he lost his wheels or his suck is all mental.

Great article. I would of rather it be written/read post us winning #7.

I hope that between #50 and Dan Rooney, this teams does whatever it takes to get #7. If they lose to Jacksonville, I'll be mental. If they lose to NE, I'll be broken.

Mitchell's stats this year were pathetic. 53 total tackles, 35 solo 18 assist, 2 passes defensed, 0 picks, 0 forced fumbles and 1 fumble recovery. For a FS who started 13 games.

That's 4 tackles per game and nothing else. How the hell do you start 13 games and get zero picks and defend 2 passes at FS?

It's not like he is a shut down corner and no one throws at him. Just a fucking tipped pass here and there and he should have a few ints.

I honestly think the guy has no football instincts at all. How many of these long runs and pass plays has he let run right by him? NEVER takes the correct angle and is never in place to break up a long sideline throw. Definitely a position of need in 2018.

The guy with the political sig making political posts. Maybe I'll throw in some LBJ quotes about race and diversity from the 60s in my sig and see how long I last before I get a private message from the down low moderator.

So, maybe we need a different thread for this, and I'm willing to wait accordingly for further discussion...

...but which FS do the Steelers pick at 1/32?

8-)

Great article, just give Mitchell a break as he's speaking through his heart and not his head. It's dumb and the Pats boards are just eating it up. He will have to own his words if they lose this week and/or next week, if not, he'll be the hero. Whatever gets us over the hump.

shazierI want to thank the Lord for the first downs that he has been allowing me to achieve. The touchdown is going to come in his timing, but today was a first down. I was finally able to make it to practice with my teammates. It’s great to be back for practices and meetings. Just to be able to feel a part of it means the world. So I’m working harder than I ever have to get back. Ive been making strides over the past month and continue to make progress. Taking it day-by-day, but I’m far from done. The Lord has not finished his work yet. I want to say thank you to the fans and Steelers Nation for the prayers. If it wasn’t for my family, friends and your prayers I wouldn’t be were I am now. They have lifted me and my family through this journey and I ask for you to continue praying for me, as I continue to work daily on improving my health. #Shalieve#Steelers#prayfor50

I actually disagree with the bolded. He's got great instincts, he's just too damn slow to get where he needs to be...happens to every athlete eventually. Half a second late...half a second reaction time and the play is way behind you at this level.
