Carson Palmer has announced his retirement from the NFL after 15 seasons.
Palmer turned 38 last week. "Over the years, I’ve had teammates who decided to hang it up and I would ask them how they knew when it was time to walk away," Palmer said in a statement. "The answer was almost always the same: You just know. For me that time is now. Why? Quite simply, I just know." It ends a long, strange trip of a career. The 2002 Heisman Trophy winner at USC, Palmer was the No. 1 overall pick of the 2003 draft, but spent the entire year behind Jon Kitna on the bench. Palmer's career rapidly progressed after that before a devastating knee injury in the 2005-06 postseason. Palmer was never quite the same, though he was a second-team All-Pro for the Cardinals in 2015. Somewhat bizarrely, Palmer also quit on two separate organizations, forcing his way out of Cincinnati and Oakland. He finally found a home with the Birds, who are at square one as an organization without a coach or quarterback. Jan 2 - 5:01 PM

Not needy at all, this story was dropped same time Marvin Lewis was extended. Based on this teams older history against Carson, not one person here commented about him retiring on Steelers page or this one except SteelThrill.

I was sure he would. He’s old, slow and done. What I didn’t see was Cinci extending Marv. That is hilarious. Like Cleveland Browns Hilarious. That too is fine because as I’m still on the fence with Bens retirement talk, but our schedule next year is not easy at all. If we win the SB this year clearly we’ll be having an awesome offseason and not minding the long wait for football. It’ll also help temper my anger next year if we lose more games than this year.

Saw yesterday that Cowherd thinks he should be in the Hall of Fame and said he would vote for him to be in the Hall of Fame. This statement alone makes a person unqualified to judge Hall of Fame talent.

Because of all of his postseason success?

I'm convinced the fans on this board could/would be better suited to talk NFL football than some pundits on TV and on NFL radio. Fucking absurd some of the shit I hear.

In his 14 year career, he only had a winning record 5 times. 1-3 career in the playoffs.

Other than that, sure, hall of fame resume

The sole purpose of his making that statement was to aggravate people and get them talking. That's Cowherd's entire career.

I get tired of hearing "never the same after the knee injury". The guy had a great 2005 because that offense was completely loaded. After that, Mr. "chuck to my first read and duck" got pretty exposed.

The fact he quit - twice - tells you pretty much everything you need to know about the guy. He was a giant pussy with a decent arm. The knee injury had nothing to do with his career, other than provide a convenient excuse for a serial quitter.
