Rest in peace, Mr. Rooney. Thank you for leading the Steelers to glory.

Years ago, @CharlieBatch16 asked Dan Rooney why he sat in last row of team charter. DR said: "I don't have to play a game tomorrow. You do."

Very sad day in Pgh. One of the nicest men you'll meet. He'd wait in line for lunch & chat w/ all. Never'd know he's millionaire NFL royalty

Dan Rooney had Hillary Clinton on speed dial and a personal handshake w/ @Ike_SwagginU. There was not a more unpretentious owner in the @NFL

Damn. RIP Dan. Wow what a tremendous loss for not only Steelers nation, but for the game itself.

He sure as hell brought a lot of good memories to my life.

Hoping the Pens have some kind of tribute, or at least a moment of silence. Not gonna lie, I might break up a bit if so.

Hopefully he didn't suffer in the end and died peacefully. Thank you Mr Rooney, you had a vision and kept to it and because of that we have the greatest organization in professional sports-the Pittsburgh Steelers.

RIP Mr. Rooney, thanks for many great memories and especially for pushing to draft the QB instead of Shawn Andrews!

Damn. This was inevitable but seemed impossible.

Bet he died with very few regrets. Class.

Condolences to the Rooney family.

The Chief was The Chief and will always be remembered and loved, but without Dan there are not six world championship trophies in the Steelers' display case.

His photo should be in the dictionary under "game-changer" because he did. A million thanks from Steeler Nation, Dan.

Dear Mr. Rooney, When we first met in 2010 you embraced me with open arms. You made me feel welcome. You looked at me as more than just another jersey number. One of the most genuine, and humble human beings I've had the pleasure of knowing. You motivated me not only to excel on the field but also in life. This season, the number 84 on my uniform will represent the 84 years you spent on this earth making an impact on the lives of others. I'll miss you my friend. Thank you for everything -AB

RIP Dan
