College sports hazing is pretty damn innocuous if it happens at all anymore. In 2000 mine consisted of singing a song and carrying some equipment. In HS there was the infamous atomic situp and the cockiest sophomores had to pass a CD from buttcheek to buttcheek. I shake my head when these silly rituals are turned into a big deal.
What is dangerous and scary is the drinking rituals that can lead to alcohol poisoning and death. And I'm fairly sure that is still quite rampant in the Greek life world.
Here's a list of hazing incidents in sports.

Newtown H.S. (Conn.)
Wrestling
The team was forced to forfeit four matches after several team members were caught trying to initiate a freshman by dunking his head into a toilet bowl.
Centennial H.S. (Md.)
Soccer
Fourteen upper-class team members reportedly forced a dozen freshmen players to line up against a wall and hold their ankles as soccer balls were ferociously kicked at them in a ritual called "butts up."
Stevenson H.S. (Ill.)
Football
Officials suspended four players for so-called "atomic sit-ups" -- in which their faces met with the buttocks of other players -- and other humiliating acts. The players pleaded guilty to reduced charges of disorderly conduct.
now the only thing wrong with an atomic situp is that today, a kid will go cry to his parents who will then raise holy hell.
