Loved the first season of True Detective; not so the second season.

I'm thinking of re-upping HBO -- anyone watching/have an opinion on the third season?

3rd season is very slow. Entertaining but slow. The series jumps back and forth between 3 different time periods as it plods along.

Season 3 might be worse than 2. The storyline has a ton of potential but - like stillthere said - it just drags along. Way to much focus on the love story between the one detective and his wife.

Really it's not fair to expect any new season to touch 1.

It was way better than season 2 which was awful. Season 3 was strong most of the way. The finish was a little hollow.

Thanks all. That's two moderate ups and one down. Probably will check it out.

And I agree it would be unfair to expect Season 1 quality.

I found myself struggling to stay awake through much of season 3. Started with an interesting story but really dragged IMO...

Escape at Dannemora was one of the best series I've ever seen on TV.

If you haven't seen it, do so immediately.

Didn’t like 3. Hated the jumping around.

Season 2 was so bad they chased me away for good. I won't give it another shot. I only made it through 2 episodes of Season 2.
