I'm interested to hear anyone's reviews if/when they go see it tonight or tomorrow.

Venom was probably my favorite comic book character growing up (largely influenced by the 90s Spider-man Cartoon, although I also read as many of his solo and featured comics as well), so I was excited when this originally got announced as being being made.

However, the news that trickled out since it's announcement waned my excitement more and more (no Spider-man and not even set in the same universe, I mean WTF?).

Then the trailers were gawd-awful between Tom Hardy's weird voice inflections and the cringe-worthy dialogue.

And now I'm reading reviews and it's basically ruining my day.

So hoping someone can save it for me and tell me that there's at least SOME saving grace in this likely shit-box of a film. Maybe it's at least guilty-pleasure worthy? Maybe? Please?

I haven't seen it yet but I wanted to comment on your 'favorite' comic book character. My absolute favorite super villain is Carnage. I had the first issue Spiderman comic book that Carnage was first introduced in. I'm hoping some how some way this venom movie is a start of a series that will eventually lead to the Carnage storyline. ;)

That's actually the intent, from my understanding. Symbiotes Riot and She-Venom are in this movie (with Riot being the main villian). And Woody Harrelson makes a cameo at the end as Cletus Cassidy with a heavy teaser towards a sequel featuring Carnage as the villain.

Buuuut, if this first movie sucks and bombs...that might be a pipe dream.

Woody Harrelson, from Star Wars to comic book movies. Interesting new career trajectory.

Saw it today with my brother...we grew up loving the character.

Very accurate adaptation with humor, it was much more funny than I thought it was going to be.

Started slow, but overall, I loved it.

Same- I thought it was better than most of the movies lately with the humor interjected. My girls (15 and 11 yrs old) LOVED it and they had absolutely no background on Venom

That's encouraging. I might go see it this weekend.

I have to say I didn't like the trailers much. Venom never really struck me as a character that's be centered around comedy. And some of the dialogue was cringe-worthy (particularly the "float...like a turd" line.

Then the reviews were pretty bad and I basically gave up hope.

But I am hearing some good feedback from people who actually know the comic, including you guys. So you may have swayed me back into seeing it this weekend.
