Injuries.
They have finally struck the Pens with vengeance.

It was one thing that had me worried about their play all season-the injuries were not significant.

Out:Murray but that may not be a bad thing since Jarry has done well in his place. Still though, it is concerning that Murray is hurt yet again
Letang again
Schultz still
Now Ruhwedel.
Half the defense is hurt.
Rust-who looked like he had a serious hand injury last game. He is listed as out for a significant amount of time.
In: DeSmith
Pedan/Corrado on defense
Garrett Wilson at forward

Simon should be back in the lineup.

I find it interesting that Sprong hasn't had a call up to this point. I have no idea of his showing at WBS but there have been four or so forwards called up before him.
Penguins projected lineup
Jake Guentzel -- Sidney Crosby -- Patric Hornqvist

Carl Hagelin -- Evgeni Malkin -- Phil Kessel

Dominik Simon -- Riley Sheahan -- Conor Sheary

Tom Kuhnhackl -- Carter Rowney -- Ryan Reaves

Brian Dumoulin -- Matt Hunwick

Ian Cole -- Jamie Oleksiak

Olli Maatta -- Frank Corrado

Tristan Jarry

Casey DeSmith

Scratched: Garret Wilson, Andrey Pedan

Injured: Matt Murray (upper body), Kris Letang (lower body), Justin Schultz (lower body), Bryan Rust (upper body), Chad Ruhwedel (upper body)

God that defensive lineup is depressing.

Bam, we are the weak sister right now.

I thought Maata did alright the other night as the lead D man.

Rust is going to be out a while and that hurts because though he isn't great his effort this year has been there nearly every night.

I wouldn't be shocked at a big trade soon.

Awesome start! That’s the intensity we’ve been missing.

Yeah, good start.

Man that was so close to offsides.

Nice feed by Guentzel and Dumo buries it.

Feels like a home game.

I like where Dumo is going: he’s turning into a really solid player

Opps, Jake's pass went off a skate. Too much time doing other things during the game.

It would be a good sign to see the Pens come out in the second with the same jump they had in the first. Period to period is how this team has to look at it.

Kessel got caught looking on the tying goal.
Weird play and I thought Jarry had the net covered. It happens when you get outworked.

How about a PP?

So much for period-period continuity.

It was only a matter of time.

Interference?
Probably won't matter with the way this team just settled in after the early lead. Put some of that on coaching.

Crosby has to respond.

Yeah, I mean if elbowing the goalie in the face isn’t INT, I don’t know what is.

I've seen too much of this.
Crosby took that whole shift off on the boards and only came out when he thought he could cheat up ice.

Pathetic

Great game pens!

This team is fucking maddening to watch right now. Jesus H. Christ. We need such an infusion of talent it’s actually comical at this point given our stars are now dogging it up and down the ice.

Time to fucking roll, Sully.

It has been 28 days, 4 weeks since the Pens won back to back.
I don't get how some people aren't worried. Doesn't look to me like they can sustain any level of excellence this year.

The worst part about last night was that the Birdies wasted a very good goaltender performance. The kind that steals you a point or two if you can get more than one past an average tender.
