Ron Cook has reported on his 93.7 mid day radio show that he has inside information that the Penguins are looking to see what's out there for a Kessel trade.

Your post got me curious, so I tried a simple search.
This link shows the Carolina Hurricanes owners taking a shot at his former GM JR by bashing the Kessel trade.
Nostradamus he did not prove to be.

At least the Cleveland owner was better looking.

Ron Cook and Andrew Poni? No, it's not fucking real -- those 2 "reporters" are fucking clueless idiots trying to salvage their sinking talk radio show and their pathetic careers

Ignore this nonsense. People have nothing to talk about right now so rumors around.
Remember when malkin wanted to play in Chicago?

Yeah, I can't see this happening at all.

I've heard Sully gets annoyed at Kessel, but still.

You're talking about moving a pretty significant piece of a team that just won back to back cups. Maybe if we were strapped for cap space...but we're not.

Also, I think there's almost zero chance we can trade him and get an equal return in that trade.

Toronto proved that he's not really a guy you can build a team around. To maximize his talents, you need a couple superstars ahead of him to keep the pressure off and let him be the sniper he is.

I don't know every team's cap situation, but I can't imagine there are many teams that have those superstars in place and still have the cap space left over to take on his contract and still have enough left over to fill out the rest of the roster.

Just can't imagine him being an attractive trade target for other teams.

well, everyone outside of Crosby is trade-able.

But the OP said that Cook/Poni were talking about this Kessel trade block rumor, and we all immediately dismissed it considering the source - 2 complete fucking bozos

I don't know....Cook has been in the business for years and most certainly has credible sources. It wouldn't shock me at all if JR is talking about and to everyone trying to make a 3-peat a strong possibility.

I expected some Pittsburgh sports writer dolt to start something like this. I only thought they would start with Letang because we just won the cup without him.

Cook is a columnist. His last beat was the Steelers.

He knows dick about hockey.

And you know for a certainty that Cook has no sources, how?

Well, I can tell you that GMJR would probably be happiest giving up assets out of his forward group before giving up anything else on the roster. It's the deepest position, and realistically, we have get something for a couple of guys that we're going to lose on waivers anyway.

Phil is part of the forward group, so, sure, there's a chance.

He's never broken a single hockey story in his career.

He never covered the Penguins beat.

And he was the only one who said anything about Kessel being traded. I'm sure he heard it from someone, but it wasn't anyone who knows what they're talking about.
