Ask any goalie; a backhanded shot is by far the hardest one to stop. Unless you have an angle, is very difficult to tell where the puck is going off the blade of the stick.

Horny's goal wasn't one of those epic crisp backhanders that Sid can do, but it was plenty hard and obviously tough for Holtby to handle. Just a heads up play and probably coached to do that; put the puck on net and maybe a few will go in.

Impressive effort to will the way to a huge W :)

The Pens fucking HAMMERED the Caps in the neutral zone all night long and were spry for the counter attack baby ...

The Great 8 was owned in full and was a main reason we were able to gain the chances we did. You have to wonder if this will be his demise as a formidable and elite player in the league as this will weigh HEAVY on his punk ass. I personally love seeing him be exposed.

29 was AMAZING. Major Kudos to the FLOWER

The neutral zone checking tonight by the boys was lights out. Incredible how the willingness to do the little things pays off big eh?

This was one of the best efforts by a PGH sporting club in a decisive matchup in a LOOOOOOOG time,

Props to the boys and the staff to have them ready with a game plan that threw a fucking monkey wrench into the opponent.
8-) 8-)

So when will the NHL fix the playoffs and stop allowing the two best teams in the regular season to meet in Round 2?

It's just so happened that top teams in the NHL have been in the same division the last couple of years, but yes...I hate the fact they don't re-seed every round.

This game's sorta reminding me of Game 7 at the Joe in '09.

Who is going to be Talbot?

...and 3rd period reminded me of 3rd period in Game 6 last year vs. San Jose. Pens locked it the fuck down. Would say I was on edge of my seat, but once it was 2-0, outcome was really never in doubt.

Still hard to comprehend what this team just did this series. I never really doubted vs Cbus because I knew the Pens outclassed them in every position. Washington was a different animal, say what you want about their playoffs but that's a good fucking team and they took the Pens to the woodshed in Games 5 and 6. There's a reason they outshot the Pens every game- hard accomplishment against a team boasting Sid and Geno.

Once again Sully knew what buttons to push and what personnel to bring in the lineup. He has never lost 3 consecutive playoff games w/ the Pens. Meanwhile Bylsma blew like four 3-1 series leads

Sullivan is the best thing to happen to the Pens since Sid was drafted. One thing to coach when you have all the bullets in your gun (as he did last year). It's quite another when you're forced to carry a BB gun that jams half the time. That's the difference between good and great coaches and I think this win solidifies him as a great one.

Give a ton of credit to the defensemen tonight...they got rightfully skewered the last couple of games. Check out the first goal- I believe it's Cole who holds the line instead of bailing out. Maata played a good game- recognized when to pinch/hold the line and he chose correctly each time. Forwards also were coming back...running some legal interference to slow down the Washington forecheckers too.

Can't say enough about this team. Even If they get swept by the Sens they've accomplished so much
