The team is tired. Last year they had periods of games where they looked fatigued but their depth got them through that. This year the barrel isn't as full.
And all the hitting is taking a toll.

You have to remember they had that run last year too- 24 playoff games- note that this year, San Jose went out in the fist round.

The grind of the playoffs is why it is so hard to repeat as champion.

One of the main reasons why the Pens failed in the 2010 playoffs. Back to back cup runs wore them down that year. Look at the Blackhawks-never made to consecutive cup finals.

One thing is for sure, I don't know if he is hurt or not, but Malkin needs to pick it up.

And if we are tired and beat up now, how can than they possibly make a run at another cup? Still 2 series to go.

I keep hearing posters say this but what more can he do? Score more goals?

His FO percentage is way up compared to his regular season numbers. A lot of the offense and scoring is running through him. He was ultra physical in game 4 when the Pens really needed it. Last night was the first time in this series that he was on ice when the Caps scored.
You try lugging Kunitz around and still be world class.

One last thing-I hope we saw the last of the Malkin/Kessel/Hagelin line. Those three together forget to work their own end too often when put together. Sure they can be overpowering in the offense end but when they are together it is like each of them are off to see who can lead the rush first.

There's only one team left in the playoffs I think they can lose to and that's Nashville.

They should not drop three straight to Washington and I don't think they will.

Neither NY or Ottawa don't have much of a chance.

Edmonton isn't ready, Anaheim isn't fast enough, St Louis is overrated.

Barring a total collapse or key injury the Cup is theirs for the taking.

How sweet a repeat would be.......

You are probably right, I am judging just based on goals. I guess he does lead the playoffs in points....

Hope he scores though tomorrow night to shut me up....

Love this post. Think you are right, or at least hope you at right.

Losing 3 straight to anybody would be terrible, but Washington would be brutal.

What I think is interesting is last night seemed to be Fleury's easiest night in the cage when you think about the chances they had (or didn't have). I don't recall a time where Fleury stood on his head last night. The Caps took advantage of their chances while the Pens didn't. Simple as that.

Really need to take Monday's game. I don't want to go into D.C. For game 7.

Fluery was not the problem. A tired team is, if this does go 7, a repeat is a pipe dream.

If they force a Game 7, I think that's all she wrote for the Pens.
