I see Malkin didn't gain any IQ points during his time off.

That was incredibly stupid by him but he got punched in the head prior to that in front of the whole world and nothing called. Again, that was stupid and wiped out a great effort by him tonight and the second line and all.

Other than the traditional flubbed glove save where the refs bailed us out, yeah, he had a pretty damn great game.

We'd need to pull him out of witness protection, first.

Exactly. Does Malkin automatically get reviewed for suspension on that match penalty? Edmonton up next.

He can receive UP TO a 5 game suspension with his match penalty.
I'm guess he gets 1 considering he barely contacted the helmet and no injury

Haha witness protection. You guys need it more than me :)

Yes, the risk of shaking the hive results in a backfire. I won't be starting game threads :P

Good game, except the blatant Pens Ref protection on the quick whistle. That changed the game from there on out.

the rookie had a rare bad game..... but man 51 shots and Murray was outstanding.

Flyers are not going to get into the dance, but i'd love to take guentzal off your hands for a few of our so called players.

Malkin is Malkin, has a mean streak that he can't control He's the Pens AB for sure.

One game def, maybe 2.

Mean streak, at times, out of control, too often.
As far as being AB, that is a load of shit. Never quit on his team. Doesn't complain except about his OWN play. Always shows up and is LOVED by his teammates. Puts the team ahead of himself even if that means he takes a bad penalty.
The Flyers would be lucky to ever have had a player of his talent in their history.

Well, I'd argue that penalty last night was pretty damn selfish.

But more to your point, he's still miles away from being AB.

I'd go as far as to say there isn't anyone in hockey who is even remotely close to AB, in that regard.

Just completely different cultures.

Mike Lange was on the DVE morning show today. Basically tore Malkin a new asshole. About as animated as I've ever heard Lange speak about an individual player. But then the host took the show into the territory of the stupid by trying to cram Malkin into the AB comparison, to which Lange brushed the question off. All I could think of is that I hope that doesn't become the new narrative around town, because it's absolutely idiotic and is going to create a commotion that we don't need.

He didn't quit on his team, that's not what i meant. Geno does stupid things on the ice. That's the reference. I stole that from the Burg radio guys this morning. I think it was Colin Dunlap's call.

"The Flyers would be lucky to ever have had a player of his talent in their history" - You must just came out of mommy womb in the past 20 years. We did, his name was Eric Lindros. He is in the HOF. He was generational, as Malkin and Crosby are today and as Mario and Gretzky

Enjoy your time at the top, it's coming to an end....all things must end.

Nah, grew up watching(live) Orr and the boys in the 60's. One thing, all those guys you mentioned aside from Lindros, they lifted the cup, multiple times.

In their own heads, the tone of "all things must end" probably sounds a lot less threatening and a lot more "all things haaave to end, right? I mean it has to stop at SOME point?"

Good luck on attempting comparisons between Keep Your Head Up Please Eric and Gretzky, Lemieux, or any of the real greats of hockey, Crosby and Malkin included.

If you use phrases like "in my mind" or "in our minds," you won't come off quite as delusional.

Very selfish and out of control. The Flyers went after him and the punch to the back of the head(cowardly) was the breaking point. It is the one thing that I detest about his game-he can be taken out of the game by those tactics. It is the albatross around his career neck.

All the criticism he is getting for it is deserved.
Too bad for him, because he played great last night. His line was the best line over the course of the game but that one instance took it all away for the individual.

He deserves to be suspended.

I think the NFL media is to blame for some of what we see from NFL players. The NHL media is more interested in the play rather then the personal side of players or their off ice life.
