I still don’t know about this damn team. We are almost to March and I don’t get a sense of their identity at all.

Need Malkin and need him to be out of whatever funk he was in. Hopefully this injury was the cause and he's going to be better.

I'll agree with that two or three times over.

These boys are 3 points out of a playoff spot.

This will be the second playoff collapse after the Steelers in the same year. Rough year for Pittsburgh sports.

This team has some major problems right now...whoever talked about identiy is absolutely correct.

Who does this team want to be? What should this team be?

I don't think Sully or JR even know the answers to this.
I realize we've made some trades but it seems like they don't even know what the line combos should be at this point.

Rust needs off Sid's line. Hell I'd be tempted to go back to Sid Kessel and Jake just to see what that brings

Oh good, Captain Optimism is back.

Weird how you’re never around here when they’re doing well...

Totally agree about Rust. They need to keep him away from Sid. Rust is a solid player but he just blows so many opportunities on great feeds from CrosGod.

Say what you will about ZAR's game, he can finish those set-ups. Perhaps better than Rust or Simon.

The team seems slow to me, and not physical enough to make up for that. The breakouts are slow to develop, and teams are starting to just sag back and get sticks in the way of all those fancy cross-ice passes. This is going to sound counter-intuitive, but I think the defensemen are being too careful. Have to stretch teams from the defensive zone and have to step into offensive opportunities. Unless you're paired with Jack Johnson or Maata, in which case you'd better be the last line of defense.

Pens have too many creative players and not enough single-minded shooters/finishers/phyiscal players.

I agree with a lot of what you said but not ZAR-his value is the physical nature he brings to the game. I don't think he finishes well at all.

I see this teams problem as not being a team that dictates the pace like they did in past years. They don't occupy the OZ for whole shifts like they used. They don't wear teams down forcing sloppy changes and poor decisions.
They are too hesitant it would seem.
When was the last time they put together a whole game? Tampa comes to mind so we know they can do it.

I think Malkin's problem is(hopefully was) in his head. He has spoken about that in interviews.
If there is a lingering injury why didn't they sit him earlier like before and after both breaks? Give him time to fully heal instead of now when he seemed to be coming out of his funk.

BTW, before the injury he had 15 points in 11 games. It is the +/- that stuck out during that time. Sullivan even mentioned that Malkin was playing great before the injury.

Seemed like he did when paired with Sid.

He sure knows how to go to the net, which is big.

Lots of the young guys get to the net but can't finish, that is one problem with this team. I believe their goal scoring is down half goal at this time this year.
ZAR isn't much of a skater and if Guentzel and Crosby are carrying the load I want a better skater next to them.

Just watched the entirety of the CAR vs NYR game. Carolina is kicking ass right now and playing to win.

Pens are playing like bitches and about to lose their playoff spot.

Get it together you idiots.
