Crosby played 1:21 of PK on the first kill. I ask you, when was the last time you saw that?
Good stuff-the captain has been the best player on the ice tonight.

I think that was in response to the Rangers sending out 5 forwards. You want to play 5 forwards, we'll play two skilled forwards up front and make you pay for any mistake at the blue line.

ha out-superstitioning each other

I wonder if Murray really was hurt in such a way that he couldn't play as upright-- seems like he is playing more upright now.

I noticed that too, especially last night. Now as a hockey novice, I don’t really know the significance of that, but he really looked “tall” in goal last night.

A Rangers fan was heckling Crosby while he was in the penalty box.

So Crosby signed a stick with a message complimenting the guy's heckling abilities and gave it to him.

http://www.espn.com/nhl/story/_/id/25676562/sidney-crosby-rewards-chirping-fan-signed-stick

How's that for a nice break in the current Steelers news cycle.

In part but Sid has been getting quality PK time since the Birdies came back from break. Last night, his group was caught on the ice too long. Malkin has been getting a half shift on the PK at the end as well.

That puck was on Malkin's stick for a split second before he sent it perfectly to Simon on the weak side.

Speaking of Simon, it's nice to see him finally break out of his scoring slump. That was his first point in 7 games and his first goal in nearly 2 months.

I think Geno and him really click. I think of him as a bit of Sykora - lite (and no it's not just the shared number)

fractal, it's true that Sid has been doing some PK, but that's the first time I can recall him doing it with the 1st unit and alongside Guentzel.

I was going to say it's because they're both Czech. Number works, too.

I have to admit, I laughed at "Hey Crosby, Malkin would have more Cups if he had a better supporting cast."

I think back in the day Eddie O played Malkin on the PK, but it was SECONDS of time

This situation is different because it appears Sid & Jake are doing significant PK work- they're the first or second unit called.

Wonder if Brass isn't pissed about that since he was doing it for awhile.

That 5 forward PP for the Rangers had been working until last night. Odd thing to see for sure.

I think that 87 has been out on the PK for the past 5 games when the game is on the line or early on when the game is fresh. I can't remember if he got any PK time when the score didn't matter.
As far as Guentzel as a PK'er-not a fan. Love the player but I think he is deficient defensively. Might be part of his game that will come around with more time and age. Dude will take a beating for sure though.

Good stuff. An ESPN article worth reading.

I got Butch Goring to flip me off at a Penguin game back in the early 80's behind the Islanders bench. It took awhile but he finally turned, gave me the finger and told me to 'fuck off'.

I don't think Jake has ever PK'd in his hockey career, so definitely some learning curve going on
He seems smart so I think he'll pick it up

Had to ruin the fun by bringing up that name...

Poor Horny.

What?
Dude scored some big goals for the Pens.

That line of Sykora/Malkin/Fedotenko was pretty damn good.

I wasn't crazy about Fedotenko, but I loved watching Sykora and Malkin.

For some reason, they just seemed to click together.

I vaguely remember one specific play (and it was a while ago, so details may be wrong), where Sykora gave Malkin a beautiful outlet pass for a breakaway and Malkin pull the biggest "Fuck You" move I've ever seen. He skated within about 15 feet of the goalie and blasted a slap shot from point blank that may have actually killed the goalie had he tried to stop it.

That may have even been it. My memory is hazy. And if so, Sykora wasn't involved, but I still like remembering it.

Believe it was against Philly in the playoffs 2008
