No Horny(upper body injury)

Sens are minus Duchene and Ryan which hurts them big time.

Looks like Malkin is straddled with Rust on his line.

Penguins projected lineup
Jake Guentzel -- Sidney Crosby -- Phil Kessel

Tanner Pearson -- Evgeni Malkin -- Bryan Rust

Riley Sheahan -- Derick Brassard -- Zach Aston-Reese

Garrett Wilson -- Derek Grant -- Jean-Sebastien Dea

Brian Dumoulin -- Kris Letang

Olli Maatta -- Jamie Oleksiak

Marcus Pettersson -- Jack Johnson

Casey DeSmith

Tristan Jarry

Scratched: Chad Ruhwedel, Juuso Riikola

Injured: Matt Murray (lower body), Justin Schultz (left leg fracture), Matt Cullen (lower body), Dominik Simon (lower body), Patric Hornqvist (upper body)

What in the hell happened to Brian Rust? He’s so average now.

Ducked one there, ballsy challenge but that doesn't excuse the top line from not getting defensively set in their own zone.

DeSmith was the man on the PK.

Malkin has dominated this period but he continues to refuse to shoot. With the wingers he is playing aside he should be taking every opportunity to put the puck on net.

You just can't have two of your best players make that mistake, right?

They had no problems shooting the puck tonight, and should have had a big advantage 3 on 3... but no extra point in this one.

Guentzel skate your lazy fucking ass to the bench you goddamn idiot.

What a stupid way to lose in OT.

The mistake was Jake dogged his way to the bench he needs to get off the ice.

I don't agree. Jake could have skated faster but even if he does, that pass is still getting to Malkin before Guentzel is making it to the door. I know they give them some leeway, but Malkin takes off for center ice just as Jake is touching the far blue line. How is Jake supposed to make it to the bench?

By skating. And refs do give the leeway but the guy needs to have the feet going all the way to the bench.

From Reddit (haha):

Quote:
Some say that Guentzal still hasn't made it back to the bench.

Also, Jake was gliding to the far door on that play; if he skates hard to the door closest to center ice they probably don’t call that penalty.

Another sloppy change costs the Pens again.

I haven't looked back at it but my first impression was that both Guentzel and Malkin were to blame. One jumped the ice too soon and the other was slow to exit. Guentzel was on an extended shift and I don't remember how much time Malkin had to rest.

I have to wonder how these sloppy changes keep happening? Are the players to blame or the coaches, maybe both?

That's the way I saw it. And the close door wasn't open, was it? Can he literally jump into the bench?

Of course he can, B2B. Timing a change when your sub is the guy getting a stretch pass is hard enough but the one thing that can’t happen is Jake gliding to the bench. I don’t really understand why we can’t be critical of him there. Too Many Men is almost purely a sloppy penalty in hockey. Pens have been nailed a few times this year and agree with Fractal that this is out of character.

I meant only that all three guys are at fault. Malkin left early, Jake went too lackadaisically, and Sid probably shouldn't have passed it until Jake was at the bench.

Just sloppy, I guess.
