The one team I love to watch lose every chance I get.

The Flyers special teams are a mess so hopefully the Birdies can make them pay there.

Now that it is December I'd love to see October Malkin return and November Crosby to continue.

39 seconds in and Guentzel/Crosby on the 2 on 1.
14 goals in his last 16 games for the captain.

Go back and look at the breakout pass by Dumo. It could have led to a TO but I have noticed that the Pens try to leave the zone with passes like that all the time.

And just like that the Pens D pair get caught deep in their own end and the Flyers score on the breakaway.
Looked to me like Letang reacted too slowly on that play and Kocnechny basically was cherry picking.

Good pressure at the end of the period.

This is a very important game for the Pens. Not because it makes or breaks the season but when your all time player scores 39 seconds into the game, at home against your arch enemies, losing to them after having a lead that early would suck massively. Oh, and the flyers are a mess right now, we cannot be losing these games. Win this period.

What the actual fuck!! Another shortie surrendered. Hate to say it, cuz he's a New Hampshire kid, but not impressed with the last few weeks version of Casey DeSmith.

If you have watched the game tonight, Crosby and Malkin have been great. Malkin has set up a half dozen good scoring opportunities that haven't found their way home. Add in great neutral zone defense.
Crosby is the player that no one can match tonight which has been the story for the past few weeks.

Time for Sullivan to eat his ego and put Kessel with Malkin and stop this bullshit.
Oh, Rust can't finish so why not give another player(cough-Sprong) a chance.

Great job pens! We lost all of November, let’s roll it into December.

This is a weak, fragile, aloof hockey team. Fucking at home to the Flyers after Crosby scores 39 seconds in. A joke.

And when your best defensemen spends 4 minutes of the period in the box when you are down a goal, then that idiot needs to play smarter and start playing like a leader. Letang often plays like a bitch.

Who is the captain of this team?

The problem right now is coaching.

And really, Letang has been great this season, but when the team is in the dumps like they are we can’t have guys like him taking back to back tripping calls like that down a goal in the 3rd.

I’m just frustrated. This is not a good hockey team. We are stale and slow, and that is against one of the worst teams statistically in the league, at home. Fuck me.

Sully has always struck me as an authoritarian, like the anti-Tomlin. Why isn’t his message getting through? I think it’s because absent a few superstars on this team we have a serious talent void. Our 4th liners scoring once every 10 games is never going to work. When Crosby scores a natural hat trick and we still lose by 3 goals we are fucked.

Nothing lasts forever boys... we have been QUITE spoiled by what the birds that don't fly have brought to the fanbase.

IMHO it is time to make some key trades and try and get some young hungry talent back. We are not a good hockey club and the playoffs are light years away from being a realistic goal as they are currently built.

DK reporting that Pens are looking to dump Brassard.

Not sure what kind of return we’d get, but it’d be hard to down grade that much.

Brassard hasn't bothered me too much. Kessel barely shooting the puck for going on a whole season's worth of games is a much bigger concern. Not having any finishers aside from Guentzel and Hornqvist is a big problem.

I think Sprong is a guy who won't accomplish much on 4th line, but if you put him alongside a playmaker, he might get a few points for you. I just don't get it. Dressing Grant, playing Rust up on a top line... yikes.

No coincidence that Malkin went into a sort-of-funk when they moved Kessel off his line and to answer your question Kessel needs a setup man like 71.
Last night Malkin had about half a dozen nice setups but his mates didn't finish. Shit happens but Sullivan should have moved Kessel back to Malkin's line when he saw that 71 was having one of those games where his game is ripping. Alas, the HC didn't or wouldn't but he gave Kessel a few shifts with Crosby which is fine/great but when you need a goal late in the game go back to what has worked for years.
Sullivan continues this stubborn approach to coaching(Kessel/Malkin-sitting Sprong for dead weight, etc) and I see him more and more like Bylsma.

The Flyers came out bored and I thought the Pens might cruise once Crosby broke the ice early. No, this team finds ways to lose letting a flat Flyers team back into it with two shit goals where the D pair are caught unaware.

Sadly, this is closer to the truth than we probably want to believe.
Ironically, the Pens lack of secondary/role/complimentary type players is largely due to trades made that brought in the players needed to secure a couple of Cups. Now they’re paying the bill...
