Sprong is scratched and the two call-ups are on the fourth line. I thought Sprong was coming along with his game the last few contests.
Caps are trying to win two in a row for the first time this season.

Penguins projected lineup
Dominik Simon -- Sidney Crosby -- Bryan Rust

Carl Hagelin -- Evgeni Malkin -- Patric Hornqvist

Jake Guentzel -- Riley Sheahan -- Phil Kessel

Zach Aston-Reese -- Matt Cullen -- Garrett Wilson

Brian Dumoulin -- Kris Letang

Olli Maatta -- Chad Ruhwedel

Jack Johnson -- Jamie Oleksiak

Casey DeSmith

Matt Murray

Scratched: Juuso Riikola, Daniel Sprong

Injured: Justin Schultz (left leg fracture), Derick Brassard (lower body)

LGP. A big win on the road would go a long way in erasing the dread that was the last four games.

Fractal - they lose tonight we may need to rotate game thread duties to reverse some mojo.

When was the last time that any Pens coach split Crosby/Malkin up on the PP intentionally?
I've called for it in the past but I'm shocked to see it happen.

Great period by the Pens. We do need Geno to stop playing like a turnover creating doofus.

Why do I get the feeling that the guy in net tonight might be our guy going forward?

Nice TO by Sid that led to the back-check penalty.

Keep giving this team PP opportunities and it will end up being a joke.

Wow there are a lot of guys on this team that aren’t burying the puck.

Our bottom 6 are playing terrible offensive hockey.

Malkin didn't do much on that hit. Oshie practically jumped into a cannon and someone lit the fuse. Joke of a 5 min.

I think Bryan Rust has maxed out as a player, and with his injury concerns and a raise incoming, he's the type of guy I'd look to move in a trade

This is one of the guys JR was talking about

I agree. Should have gotten him on an embellishment as well.

He leaned into it. Wasn’t a lot. But enough to say he could have avoided it. I don’t think he should have been given the major. But with them supposedly stressing head hits, had to give him something.

Ryan Reaves has more points this year than Carl Hagelin and Bryan Rust.

Despite only playing 4 games this year, Tom Kuhnhackl is on pace to match the projected season point totals of Rust and Hagelin.

Neither Reaves or Kuhnhackl play extensive minutes with Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Kris Letang, or Phil Kessel.

Riley Sheahan has one less point than Hagelin and Rust.

This is not to suggest that Reaves and Kuhnhackl are better players or should be playing over these three. They're not and they shouldn't. It's an illustration of the lack of scoring the depth players have provided.
