Hopefully we don't see another game where 13 goals are scored.
Letang can become the Pens all-time leader for points in franchise history for a Dman tonight.

Penguins projected lineup
Jake Guentzel -- Sidney Crosby -- Patric Hornqvist

Carl Hagelin -- Evgeni Malkin -- Phil Kessel

Dominik Simon -- Derick Brassard -- Bryan Rust

Matt Cullen -- Riley Sheahan -- Daniel Sprong

Brian Dumoulin -- Kris Letang

Olli Maatta -- Jack Johnson

Jamie Oleksiak -- Justin Schultz

Matt Murray

Casey DeSmith

Scratched: Chad Ruhwedel, Derek Grant, Juuso Riikola

Injured: None

And for the record, the Habs are a bottom feeder. Might be bottom three in the east when the season is over.

If Johnson cheats up ice that leaves Maata on an island and the Habs took advantage.

The D men must have had 4-5 bad TO's in their own end that period.

The Pens can't expect to win with a perimeter game against Price. The best scoring opportunity was when Guentzel and another forward had him bookended and Crosby almost buried one coming around from behind the net.

Add two penalties that should have been called. Malkin got hauled down behind his net with a step on his pursuer and another Pens forward was tripped badly in OZ.

25 minutes in and 7 SOG.

Kessel is invisible.
OZ time, so far for the Pens is a joke.

He isn't the problem tonight.

Now they give up a shortie. Malkin busts his ass to get back on the F2 and then he doesn't engage him in front of Murray. That is the story of this game.
Montreal came in and wanted it more to this point.

Where the fuck is Horny getting in Price's face? Kessel has been a joke tonight.

The effort has been nothing short of embarrassing.

Go back and watch the first three Canadian goals. Murray faced odd-man rushes and defensive breakdowns in his own zone.

Has he stood on his head-no but when a goaltender is tasked with facing one after another after another defensive breakdown he is going to break.
Blame him for being average at this point but the Pens have bigger problems than Murray.

I meant between 2 games, 10 goals and counting, he’s looked poor.

The Pens are so absent tonight that Crosby has been erased this period.

This game has a unique stink to it.

Well that’s what happens when you sleep walk through a game.

Shitty top to bottom.

Didn’t see the game as I’ve been busy all day.

Obviously wasn’t good.

But, eh, game 2 of 82.

Onto the next one.

I think the Habs are a little better than expected. They seem like a lesser version of the Devils. A lot of fast guys who play good hockey. The Pens seem unable or unwilling to play the physical style game necessary to beat that style of hockey... maybe because it's game 2?

Murray... man, I don't know. It's been a while since he looked unbeatable.

Pens 1st and 2nd lines have been way below their usual standards in the first two games. Conversely, Lines 3 and 4 are keeping them in games.

I was thinking the same thing last night.

The Pens are not dictating and they let Montreal set the pace and they were in chase mode too often. That and no consistent OZ time.
Murray isn't sharp but he is being hung out to dry from defensive lapses.

They never really challenged Price last night and that isn't acceptable.

Pens always have at least one stinker in the opening week. Let this one stew for a few days then take out the frustration against Vegas on Thursday night

i know we've praised the FO's decisiveness, but we're in a 'good is the enemy of great' situation with Murray that's going to take a long time to extract ourselves from

Could be as simple as calling up Jarry, Chidi. He's shown flashes and has a pedigree.

I’d be fine with “good” Murray.

The Pens got off to a shaky start last year. Murray let in 11 goals his first two games just like last year.
The Blues came in on Banner night and ruined the party in OT. Then the Pens played the Hawks the next night on the lake and got scuttled 10-1.

I think that was Niemi vs. Chicago.
