shame..i used to enjoy the base stealers and the drama..always arguments on wwho best.. bucs had Moreno.. reds morgan. dodgers lopes..lou brock..ricky Henderson was amazing..just to name a few ..these guys all got into pitchers heads when on the base paths. miss that part of game..

Same here. Buster Olney wrote a good piece a few weeks back about why the SB is disappearing from the game.

Jake Arrieta does a far better job of owning the Pirates than Bob Nutting.

No luck with Philly teams tonight.

2-1 loss...now 6-7 in last 13.

Last 9 games Pirates are 3-6, including a game they won 1-0. No team makes a living winning 1-0 games. Could easily be 2-7.
In their other 2 wins they scored 7 and 10 runs respectively.

In their six losses they've scored 2 runs or less, getting shut out twice.
Two losses were by 2-0 and 2-1 scores.
While the pitching has worsened it's really the lack of offense that's been the issue lately.

At least the Cleveland owner was better looking.

Now isn’t this what we all really expected?

Prediction 1: If the Pirates continue to slump we'll soon be hearing about J-Hay's injury as the turning point of the season.

Prediction 2: Those who support Bob Nutting will willingly buy into that theory, as they did about the absences of Kang & Marte during the 2017 season.

Especially the two errors that allowed the Phillies to bat around when they blew the game open.

Think about it...the early run was fueled almost exclusively by an unsustainable amount of offense. The poor middle relief...the average starting pitching...and the abysmal fielding...were all there.

As soon as the hitting came back to earth...this of course was what you were going to see.

Bling has a point, of course, since the offensive funk almost perfectly coincided with JHay going out. But even before JHay went out, the signs were there...like Polanco having a 1.000+ OPS...but a batting average that was flirting with the Mendoza Line (Marte too, although not quite to the same degree).
