Another trap game?
Another team going in the wrong direction though they get a healthy Price back tonight.
I might break something if the Pens come out as flat and lazy as they did last night.

Murray could go again tonight.

Penguins projected lineup
Jake Guentzel -- Sidney Crosby -- Bryan Rust

Carl Hagelin -- Evgeni Malkin -- Patric Hornqvist

Conor Sheary -- Derick Brassard -- Phil Kessel

Tom Kuhnhackl -- Riley Sheahan -- Josh Jooris

Brian Dumoulin -- Kris Letang

Jamie Oleksiak -- Justin Schultz

Olli Maatta -- Chad Ruhwedel

Matt Murray

Casey DeSmith

Scratched : Matt Hunwick

Injured : Zach Aston-Reese (upper body), Dominik Simon (lower body), Carter Rowney (upper body)

Gritty goal. I’ll take it.

Brassard is such a bump on a log at this point.

That last goal was a drag. Lost the battle on the wall mid ice(Malkin played it wrong) then Letang got tooled.

Hornqvist is really going.

Getting the goaltending at the moment.

Wow.
Not that they gave up the tying goal but it was the way they let it happen.
Talk about zero responsibility by any player on the ice or leaving it.

Changes have been a problem all season.
And Crosby can't buy one...

He was never supposed to be Kessel. He’s a really good two way player who can put the puck in the net on occasion (as he did tonight).

Yes, he’s played a little below expectations thus far, but he’s been fairly solid in the defensive end, which is a big reason a lot of teams wanted him. He’s not a player you can judge just by looking at the goal totals. He’s never been an elite scorer and never will be. He’s just a solid and versatile all around forward that does a lot of things well.

And remember, he went from one of the slowest, most boring systems in the league to one of the fastest and most dynamic. An adjustment period is to be expected.

cool..hope u right...I know he wasn't kessel..what I meant was as u stated pens are one of fastest teams and he played with slowest. I hoped for a blooming of talent we got when kessel got in a system he can excel.. hoped we got the same breakout from brassard...maybe in playoffs he gets going..

Great to see Brassard get the GWG. Hopefully it opens the flood gates.

People who say Brassard is disappointing are the same who thought Reaves was a good trade. Surprising.

I wasn't familiar with Brassard's game honestly. I thought he was more of an offensive dynamo and figured he'd gel really quick with Kessel

Looking at the details of his defensive game, he's more Datsyuk than Bonino. He's not going to block shots but he's going to use his stick to knock down a pass or lift a stick to steal it. Bones would body a guy off to get the puck back.

I bet in 5 games we're gonna see Brassard stand out waaaay more on the offensive and defensive ends

You can see Brassard's game working in the playoffs. If anything, he looks a little lost in the wide open style game.

I think getting ZAR back-- and Simon for that matter could really help this team. Kuhnackl has a heart of gold but, man, he has some stone hands and slow legs.

Pittsburgh STILL has fully half of their remaining eight games back to back games where the other team had at least one rest day. And they end the season with all of their remaining B2B games against rested teams with only one game separating them.

This has been the craziest schedule I think I've ever seen.

Case in point was the Habs first goal last night. Malkin and Hagelin fumbled the puck in the neutral zone and Byron came zipping into the Pens zone. Letang was in position and could have bodied Byron to the boards or pushed him closer to the middle.
Either case he slows Byron down but no, 58 let Byron get around him and the Habs were in on an odd man break and scored.

As far as Brassard goes-he makes the Pens a better team, a stronger team up the middle. Will he put up crazy numbers-probably not but he is getting used to a new role with the Pens.
