Looks like DeSmith in net.

Sullivan complained that the Pens weren't hard enough to play against last night.

Before the last two games the Pens weren't getting PP opportunity. Well they blew the first three against Philly before breaking through and last night the PP was terrible.

Penguins projected lineup
Jake Guentzel -- Sidney Crosby -- Conor Sheary

Carl Hagelin -- Evgeni Malkin -- Patric Hornqvist

Riley Sheahan -- Derick Brassard -- Phil Kessel

Tom Kuhnhackl -- Josh Jooris -- Carter Rowney

Brian Dumoulin -- Kris Letang

Jamie Oleksiak -- Justin Schultz

Olli Maatta -- Chad Ruhwedel

Casey DeSmith

Tristan Jarry

Scratched: Matt Hunwick

Injured: Matt Murray (concussion), Zach Aston-Reese (upper body), Bryan Rust (concussion), Dominik Simon (lower body)

I agreed with the commentary during the game last night: Broussard has been playing single-wing hockey for so long in Ottawa that he's forgotten how to play balls out. He's like a step behind on both offense and defense. He's also getting killed in the faceoff circle-- they should let Sheahan take every one.

One timer from the slot on the PP on a feed from Malkin.

Horny ripped it but I want to go back and watch it again to see if it went off a Dallas stick. Nonetheless it was a nice quick play after Crosby gathered it and broke free to feed Malkin who deftly slid it over to Horny.

I know the consensus is that Letang is playing better but he has three horrid TO's in that period. Two of them he just blindly tossed up ice deep in his own end. One almost cost the Birdies.

Doesn’t Malkin have to be completely over the blue line?

Between that call and Dumo’s no goal last night I’m starting to wonder about NHL officiating.

I don’t know what you’re all complaining about.

There is no question this is offside. It’s almost a carbon copy of the offside that was called in the ECF game 6 against Tampa in our favor two years ago.

Since Malkin’s left skate is off the ice in the neutral zone, for all intents and purposes, he IS all the way in the attack zone. And the puck is still on the line

Classic offside.

My guess is you’d never know this happened in your beer league.

Not to mention most puck leagues don't even have offsides....

That overturn was just another example where replay adheres to the letter of the rule but completely fucking violates the spirit of the rule. Replay is ruining sports. I much prefer the way the games used to be when we just had to live with some occasional human error from officials.

I don't get all the hand wringing over the off sides.
The Pens just shut down a very skilled team and held them to one goal. Our back up back up tender played very well and the Pens came away with 2 valuable points.

Quite possible that without replay overturning a carbon copy of that call the Penguins are not back-to-back Stanley Cup champions. Should Drouin’s goal have counted in ECF Game 6 in 2016? Tampa gets a 1-0 lead- quite possibly that game unfolds differently and it’s Lightning winning in six.

Hockey replay is just fine. It’s not like they spend 25 minutes splitting hairs.

Limited places they can use it and 99% of the time, IMO, they get it right.

New to the gameday threads?

If folks didn't have something to bitch about, then they wouldn't even know what to say.

The Pens could be skating the stanley cup around the rink immediately after winning it and some of the pissy-pants posters here would be bitching about what order with which the players got to carry the cup.
