Center depth has gone from a weakness (Rowney and Gregg McKegg sharing a lineup card seems like a long time ago...) to a strength of the team. I'm not sure how they're going to balance out those forward lines exactly, but there's absolutely killer depth and flexibility there now.

I wouldn't rule out another trade, some forward depth for a solid defenseman sounds like the final piece, perhaps. Cole/Oleksiak pairing was doing well.

Nice work, JR! Certainly better today than yesterday, by a decent margin.

Yea I'm bummed giving up Cole as he seemed to settle down. And that means more hunwick (barf) Guss is apparently a high level prospect and some have him pegged as better than Murray

A first is whatever... The pens become the favorites with this move. No one can match the C depth now

The 1 pick would have been steep a month ago.
Cole is difficult to part with but you have to give to get. I bet we get some veteran depth in the next few days.
Just wish this trade had happened earlier in the week so we got our new piece some time to work with the others.

My new lines......

Guentzel, Crosby. Horny
Hagelin, Malkin, Rust
Sheary, Brassard, Kessel
ZAR, Sheahan, Rowney

Dumo, Letang
Maata, Schultz
Hunwick, Oleksiak

Murray, Jarry

Not a lot of PK'ers there. I'm telling you, once Knuckle is healthy he will be in the lineup. Sully loves him. I know you like ZAR but don't be surprised if he is sent down when Hornqvist is healthy. I'm saying such because that is how I think the organization will handle it.

I wouldn’t hate that - I thought Tommy Boy was playing very good hockey- PK is important and we have a lot of scoring options.

As of a minute ago the NHL official site hasn't made mention of the trade. Such a great sport run by a shit show.

It's all over the net. I'm just poking fun at the NHL.

Yea I think there will be a minor deal for a defenseman made. Think Hainsey /streit last year

I think there will be no more wingers added, which is fine. Jr got his trophy fish and he's gonna pack up his nets

Hearing on the radio that the details of this deal aren’t final yet and are very complicated. Another team involved, that may have to take on brassard first, then deal him to Pittsburgh for some reason.

Salary retention may be part of it, with it rumored that Pens get out of 18% of brassard’s salary.

Per McKenzie, VGK seems to be the 3rd man in the deal, with salary retention being their part. Given Melnyk's cheap ass, it makes sense.

I saw that just now on NHL network.
So we won't see Brassard until 2-27 at home against Jersey?
