Too fucking funny. Anyone who actually buys a ticket to a Pirates game this year is exactly what PT Barnum had in mind.

Oh wow...what a haul we’ve gotten over the last two days.

Like I said earlier...they aren’t even trying to hide what they are anymore. Nutting is pissing on fans and liking it.

What really sucks is two years ago, TMobile started offering MLB.TV for free...and I’ve had no reason to watch.

See you later, McCutchen. You were a leaderless prick, but at least you tried. I welcome the 25-year-old busted pitching prospect, the 10th ranked prospect of a team with a poor prospect pool , and a high-priced 26-year-old Ty Wiggington utility player equivalent you'll get the Pirates in return.

Said in another thread about two days ago.

Surprisingly accurate!

I love the pirates misdirection with all their quotes about hard decisions and hate losing a great player that meant so much to the club. When the bigger issue is that they got robbed for Cole and cutch. They are so eager to save some cash and line pockets thabthey have no patience or willingness to take risk.

Thank god they showed commitment with signing Rivera -- commitment to full on deception.

Hoka hey morons
In light of this recent news the hoka hey article is even more ridiculous

I never post on these OPs, but this is exactly why....save for that first playoff year a few years back, I've paid basically zero attention to this team since the Sid Fuckin' Bream game.

Neal...we’re not mad you traded Cole and Cutch, you fucking moron.

We’re mad because you got nothing back but a bag of baseballs for them!

Wrong. We are mad that you didn't build around them when you had them.

C’mon guys...these trades are insignificant. Jordo is still on the roster...isn’t he?

Bryan Reynolds is the #5 prospect for the Giants. It is also noted that the Giants have the worst farm system in MLB.

I just can't care anymore.

As am I. The return the Pirates got for Cutch was about as good as you can really expect. He isn't an elite player anymore. His salary wasn't huge but not exactly cheap either. And he only has a year of term left. This wasn't like Cole which they completely botched. My issue is they completed wasted the tenure of an icon. And frankly I think Cutch was an important enough figure and the face of this franchise that the team should have just went for one last thrust for his final year. I don't even understand this from a financial aspect. They got no real impact return for him. They had to throw in $2.5 million dollars along with him. Is the $12 million in salary savings really worth the 200-300 K attendance drop because of this? Not to mention they are now up against the end of their local TV contract. Ratings are sure to drop. That can't be good for negotiations. In the grand scheme of things I don't think this really saves them much at all. I don't think they are great business people. They aren't trying to grow revenue, which is something good business people are always striving to do. They are just lazy and happy to take MLB welfare.

maybe this rich ass hole owner wants tv contract to suck; attendance to plummet and interest to disappear.. all to move the team some place for a sweet heart cash windfall and stadium elsewhere.

Sadly it's hard to spin this front office's moves in a positive way anymore. I think this line pretty much nails it, Pro.

My young son likes to go to the ballpark. I'll probably take him to a couple few Sunday kid's day games, then a Saturday night game or two with some buddies (some Cubs and Reds fans and we tear it up dahntahn pre and post game). Maybe 4-5 games total this year if they suck, which I fully expect they will. Way down from the 15 or so a year in recent years.

I think The Nut will feel it in his wallet this year. Fuck that guy.

Yep, move/lose this franchise. And when they're finished we'll probably be between not caring and begrudgingly ok with it.

Don't let a crummy miser ruin your kid's love of the game. Going to the ballpark is a still special thing for a little guy. He can become a jaded cynic all on his own when he reaches adulthood. Maybe he'll even be lucky enough to see this team come under different ownership some day. Tell you what though... If I were still in the area and had kids I'd take them to a minor league game or two to experience that as well. I've gone to plenty of minor league games and the experience of being at the ballpark is just as good. And in some ways better. You are closer to the action. It isn't as crowded. Parking is easy. Much much cheaper. You can still have your beer and hot dog and sit back and watch baseball. One of the more rewarding ball park experiences I have had was 3 years ago for a Big Brothers/Big Sisters event on a Fireworks night to watch the Lakewood Phillies play the WV Power.

What city would want the mlb version of the Cleveland browns franchise? I'm sure a city will pay big bucks for a piece of shit team and a piece of shit owner that will never really field a contender. People like winners, not losers!
