Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports that the Giants have agreed to acquire Andrew McCutchen from the Pirates, pending a review of medical records.
No word yet on the return package. The writing has been on the wall for quite some time now, but the Cutch Era is over in Pittsburgh. Coming off a disappointing season, the Giants made it a priority to pull off some impact moves this offseason. While they fell short in their efforts to land Giancarlo Stanton, they have now managed to acquire both McCutchen and Evan Longoria. McCutchen got off to a rough start last season, but he recovered with a .279/.363/.486 batting line to go along with 28 home runs and 88 RBI. He could be asked to play a corner outfield spot in San Francisco. The 31-year-old McCutchen is due to make $14.75 million in 2018 before hitting free agency.

Good for Cutch. He deserves to be with an organization that wants to win as much as he does.

Random Person: I’d say this is about as angry as Pittsburgh fans could possibly get.

No top prospects involved.

Why am I not surprised?

The Pirates were quick to make this move while everyone was distracted by the Jags fiasco.

OFFICIAL: The Pirates today acquired pitcher Kyle Crick, minor league OF Bryan Reynolds and $500,000 in international bonus pool space from the San Francisco Giants in exchange for Andrew McCutchen and cash considerations.

Too fucking funny. Anyone who actually buys a ticket to a Pirates game this year is exactly what PT Barnum had in mind.

Yep - I thought the same thing.......wait until the day after the Steelers game - either win or lose, good day to part with Cutch.

I guarantee they WANT to win. They are just not going to pay for it.

Oh wow...what a haul we’ve gotten over the last two days.

Like I said earlier...they aren’t even trying to hide what they are anymore. Nutting is pissing on fans and liking it.

What really sucks is two years ago, TMobile started offering MLB.TV for free...and I’ve had no reason to watch.

NH said that this move does not hurt the chance of winning a world series this year ....
With a straight face.

See you later, McCutchen. You were a leaderless prick, but at least you tried. I welcome the 25-year-old busted pitching prospect, the 10th ranked prospect of a team with a poor prospect pool , and a high-priced 26-year-old Ty Wiggington utility player equivalent you'll get the Pirates in return.

Said in another thread about two days ago.

Surprisingly accurate!

My super genius strikes again!

I love the pirates misdirection with all their quotes about hard decisions and hate losing a great player that meant so much to the club. When the bigger issue is that they got robbed for Cole and cutch. They are so eager to save some cash and line pockets thabthey have no patience or willingness to take risk.

Thank god they showed commitment with signing Rivera -- commitment to full on deception.

Hoka hey morons
In light of this recent news the hoka hey article is even more ridiculous

I never post on these OPs, but this is exactly why....save for that first playoff year a few years back, I've paid basically zero attention to this team since the Sid Fuckin' Bream game.

Neal...we’re not mad you traded Cole and Cutch, you fucking moron.

We’re mad because you got nothing back but a bag of baseballs for them!

Wrong. We are mad that you didn't build around them when you had them.

You gotta finish the job.
Pirates stayed Bottom 7 in payroll thru the run.
#Astros didn’t
#Cubs didn’t.
#Royals didn’t

C’mon guys...these trades are insignificant. Jordo is still on the roster...isn’t he?
