The Chris Archer deal's early returns are looking quite bad.

Here's what Austin Meadows and Tyler Glasnow are doing with the early-season red-hot Rays.

Meadows .385/.467/.788/1.255 I picked him up on waivers in my fantasy league- he's doing way better than anyone I drafted.

Glasnow 3-0, 0.53 ERA (1.97 FIP), 0.824 WHIP, 11.1 K/9 innings

Holy fucking SHIT!!!!!

shocking! another bad transaction. why does hurdle continue to pull guys who are dominating on mound and put the bum rodrigous in to cough up lead ?

It's still early, but Archer better start elevating his game to stud material again just so we can feel we got even a fair deal.

And I come from the Pens' stinkfest to see the Nats tie the game because Gonzalez was out of position.

Sigh...

This may overtake the Charlie Morton deal for the greatest of all-time!

Glasnow, like Cole, seems to have saved his best pitching after leaving Pittsburgh.

To be fair, Chris Archer has been pretty good. And I don’t think Glasnow was going to succeed in Pittsburgh. He needed the change in scenery. Losing Meadows was a bigger issue. He looks like he’ll be a slightly above average starting major league OF. The problem with the deal wasn’t that they made it. It was the identity of the team making it. If you are a real contender that is a good trade that makes sense. The Pirates weren’t real contenders. But even at that, if the front office acted as contenders following the trade then at least the deal would have made sense. But no, every action by the FO since dealing for Archer has been to punt on acquiring quality major league talent. I have no fucking clue the direction this front office is going.

seems there's a trend of late of pitchers improving dramatically leaving pirates; Morton; Cole Glasgow. what's sad bout archer trade is he will want paid too one day and he too will be gone. sorry franchise ! cheapest players is all that matter .
