I like Justis and his methodology is okay-- but I don't agree with some of his emphasis. He's just another guy taking the Waldron 3-4OLB study ( http://www.footballsfuture.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=515275
)and trying to make it his own with tweaks which don't yield an improvement in results.
You'd be better off using Waldo's two low risk categories:
1. outlier mass-adjusted explosion over a certain threshold
2. outlier shuttle and 3-cone times in a certain ratio to straight speed, indicating bend
and adding one that I've tracked
3. first step quickness that is so elite, it is penalized in Waldo's #2 (makes the ratio too straightline). My argument is: when your 1st step is below, say, 1.55, you will succeed just based on that trump card.
That said, he has Hendrickson and Dimick over Pita Tamoepenu-- I disagree, in terms of pass-rushing. I'd have Samson Ebukam & Ejuan Price ahead of those guys, too. Anyway, he's pretty visible on twitter and it's good to have someone talking about metrics for edge rushers and DL, in particular.
