Enjoying a slow day at work, so I've been messing around on twitter. I've noticed that the Steelers have brought in a few prospects for official visits, so I wanted to get this thread going. Mods - feel free to start an "official" thread and delete this one.

It does not count as a visit-- they are going to Texas to watch him, so he can actually work out. If he comes to PGH, it counts aginst the limit AND he can't work out.

McKinley being taken before the Steelers pick is a plus scenario.

I think the Steelers are going to draft a QB this year. If Mahommes is there in round 1 he is the guy. If not, then Dobbs is the fallback option with one of our 3rd round picks or our 4th round pick if he falls that far.

I like their thinking on both. Mahommes and Dobbs will both need time to develop but if it were me, those would be two of the QBs that I take a chance on.

I agree - I think they are taking Mahomes at 30. He is their kind of QB, and they like the idea of him sitting the remainder of Ben's deal.

I'd run to the podium if Mahomes is there at 1.30.

I'd trade picks from next year to move up after that and get an edge and a CB. Why be so conservative?

If the choice is between a guy like Bowser or Mahomes, I think the value is with Mahomes, for the future of the team. The cream of the crop edge guys will be reasonably picked over by 1.30, as demonstrated in both board mocks. CB, the second round-early 4th is pretty well stocked with talent, even deeper if you're able to overlook some warts.

This could be the year to take the chance on the QB.

I dislike this years qb class. I would trade up in next years draft including picks from 2019 draft.

I think in years past we have waited for local sources before 'confirming' a pre-draft visit. I'll add McKinley, and here's one more:

Draft Mahomes and offer next year's 1st for an early 2nd rounder for Bowser or Willis. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that strategy.

Rivers might be considered a local visit. very close to the 50 mile radius.

I think it would be just outside-- between 55 and 65, depending on where they measure to-from.

I don't think that Youngstown qualifies.

On a positive note, Kaboly just confirmed that Nicholson is a local visit (he's from Monroeville).

Intriguing prospect for sure. Ran a 4.5 40/1.53 split, vertical of 39", broad of 10'10", SS 4.34, 7.07 3 cone and benched 225 24x. Athleticism/play strength is there. Bit raw but very moldable.
