1. Florida State
2. Alabama
3. Oregon
4. Mississippi State
5. TCU
6. Baylor
7. Ohio State
8. Georgia
9. Ole Miss
10. Missouri

I can't put anyone ahead of the lone unbeaten major conference team. Alabama will have the best resume if they win out. Oregon is clearly a top 3 team. I can't see any way these Big 12 teams get into the playoff and win it with their lack of defense. SEC should get an automatic entry. If Missouri/Georgia went out and won the SEC championship game I'd put them in with 2 losses over most 1 loss teams.

I tend to favor strength of schedule, but not margin of victory.

2. Florida State
3. Mississippi State
4. Oregon
5. TCU
6. Baylor
7. Arizona State
8. Ohio State
9. Ole Miss

Interesting. Loss of Gurley doesn't impact the UGA support? Not singling this post out, just a general question.

Florida has not looked great vs a fairly cupcake conference. I think ND might have been their only quality opponent and I'm not a fan of ND due to their cupcake schedule. That is why I put them at 4th. I think Oregon and Alabama would eat them alive.

I don't respect TCU as a top 5 team based on the eye test.

They should have lost to WVU and Kansas. I know, I know, they won. I just think there are 5-6 teams who would beat them if they played a series of games. That's the way I look at it, right or wrong. Alabama could easily have 3 losses too, but they play a much tougher schedule than most.

As a Buckeye fan, I'm really comfortable with TCU ahead of the Bucks at this point. Their lack of a championship game will be their undoing.

Mississippi State or Alabama should fall eventually too.

OSU needs to just take care of business. Win the next two by 25+ and then win the Big 10 Championship game.

Agreed. Not to mention, while Free Shoe U might be the least likely to lose, a loss would probably knock them out of the top 10, let alone the playoff.

I hope OSU doesn't sneak in-- I'd hate to see them embarrassed in the playoff, for the sake of their fans.

Florida State is #1 right now because the best combination of the two things you need to win a postseason game: 1. clutch MFer at QB 2. good defense

I don't fully buy Bama's QB but they're #2

Oregon has a QB, guess they're three

beyond that, I would have taken Ole Miss if not for the season-ending injury to their best offensive weapon. Auburn might be the next best team I've seen, and they just got clocked by Georgia.

so make my playoff:
1. FSU vs 4. Georgia
2. Alabama vs Oregon

FSU vs Bama for the ages pick em

Sorry, but Georgia is just not close to a top 5 team. By your own criteria, they don't have a clutch QB OR a defense. They have always had talent on D, but they don't play very well as a unit.

I agree Auburn looked like a really good team before fading the past few weeks.

FSU should be #1, any unbeaten from a Power 5 Conference should always outrank teams with losses.

I'm rooting for Florida State because of how the put winning above all else and refuse to take an "action" against Jameis Winston! I respect their priorities, so GO NOLES!

This isn't Jim Tressell's OSU.

This team can compete with anyone athletically, which hasn't always been the case. That is with a freshman QB and offensive line. With Braxton Miller they would be ranked number one and undefeated.

If they get in they will compete with everyone.

Come on Cody, I’m a Buckeye fan and I don’t even believe that. They can score, they are more athletic, but there are still some major issues with the defense. I think Bama or FSU would handle them rather easily.

This is not basketball. The ACC is not a powerhouse football conference.

I think tOSU vs. Oregon is one of the best college playoff matchups possible. Big Ten vs. PAC 10 for history and gravitas, two crazy fanbases, and those two offenses burning up and down the field? Would be fun to watch, win or lose.

Show me an impressive FSU win against an impressive opponent, and I'll consider the idea that Free Shoe U would handle Ohio State "easily." You're putting a lot of stock in undefeated. The ACC is worse than the Big Ten, and their big out of conference games were what? Clemson and Notre Dame? Come on, man.

I'm pretty sure Clemson is in the ACC. ;)
And Notre Dame is a pretend ACCer.

My bad. I also forgot that they have the almighty Florida Gators on their schedule. Truly, their strength of opponent speaks for itself, especially when you add in powerhouse Okie State and all of the national powers they bested, usually after trailing, in-conference. What an impressive resume. If I were Urban Meyer, I'd be quaking in my boots; especially since he'd have to match x's and o's with the obviously superior BCS coach in Jimbo "don't call me by a grown-up name or anything" Fisher.

Then you haven't watched either play.

Alabama struggled to beat WVU, (needed 3 terrible calls) Arkansas handed them the game, as did LSU. Alabama's QB is average at best, and their defense isn't what it used to be. FSU makes bad teams look good. They could have 3 losses easily, and to bad teams. OSU may lose to those teams, but it would be tight.

If Braxton Miller played this year, OSU is still undefeated even with a struggling defense. The only reason they lost to VT is that JT was still figuring out the college game, and the offensive line was brand new aside from one player.

And the playoffs are about who are the best teams now. Or at least that is what the committee is suppose to do.

If that was the case, FSU wouldn't be in the top 4.

They have been struggling against bad teams.
