I keep seeing Devin White LSU, Josh Allen Kentucky as the two most popular ILB prospects for the Steelers Mack ILB position. Can't Thomas play the Mack? If so why would the Steelers draft another? Thoughts??

Devin Bush from Michigan and Mack Wilson from Alabama are two favorites of mine. I also think Sutton Smith of Northern Illinois might be a guy I'd be willing to try there as well.

No thanks on Devin Bush.

I like Devin White myself. Also a fan of Mack Wilson.

This kid [Joe Giles-Harris] seems to have the traits the Steelers value. Side to side LB'er with coverage skills. Has the length and sand to hold his own in the run game and should be somewhere in the range of the late 3rd RND dependant on his workout(s) pro day/combine. Thoughts?

When all is said and done, Mack Wilson likely goes top 10 or 15, but if he's anywhere close to our pick, you go get him.

I keep hearing that Devin White is coming back, and from some insiders, he's genuinely considering it. He wants to come back. It's just hard to say no to that kind of money.

Apparently, though, he's told some teammates and recruits he is coming back.

I think Germaine Pratt fits what this teams needs perfectly. He's probably the next best option after round 1 if White and Wilson aren't available.

Agree....Pratt would be a nice consolation prize. He's a tackling machine and runs pretty well. Not sure he will still be around in the 2nd though.

Apparently Mack Wilson is staying in school, but not official yet.

Wow that would be horrible for the Steelers, one of the few potential three down LBs this year.

I seriously doubt Wilson is there at 19 [where the Steelers are slated to draft at this point] anyway. I think they go in a different direction with the 1st RND pick. Corner is a glaring need which I'm of the impression takes priority. Haden is older. Hilton is slot CB only. Burns is garbage and Sutton or Sensabaugh can both be upgraded. Perhaps they shop in FA this year I don't know. Since they like to build through the draft and for discussion purposes I will lean towards CB in the first RND. Bryce Hall, Amani Oruwariye, DeAndre Baker and Kristian Fulton all in play....

How about they sign a quality corner in free agency and they draft a true nose tackle in Dexter Lawrence?
Then get ILB Pratt in the second.
3a.CB
3b (Bell).G
4.DE
5.none
6.RB
6b.WR
7.OT

Heyward-Hargrave-Tuitt is more than good enough to win in today's NFL.

I'd hate drafting a DL in the 1st round (or anywhere close) that isn't named Nick Bosa, Ed Oliver, or Quinnen Williams.

I'd hate drafting a DL in the 1st round (or anywhere close) that isn't named Nick Bosa, Ed Oliver, or Quinnen Williams.

I think DL is a far bigger need than generally thought of. We have zero quality depth and it's been shown to be incredibly important. Tuitt is oft injured and we've been lucky Heyward and Hargraves have been healthy. If we add a starting CB and good depth at OLB (Barrett, Ray, etc.) then my top needs are ILB, DL (preferably a guy who can play both NT and DE), and FS. We don't have anyone behind Davis to play FS and even he can be upgraded.

After that it's important to add speed on offense. While our O has been good for most the year we're missing someone who can stretch the D vertically.

Cop, our comp pick for Bell won't be until 2020 and we may not get one depending on the moves we make in FA.

Seriously...if they waste their 1st founder on a nose tackle...the defensive equivalent to FB, I’ll unload my 9mm into my brand new 55 inch 4K...

Lawrence is beast at stopping the run, commands double teams, and does not get pushed off the line plus he can get to the quarterback. He along with a new “Shazier” would be a big step up defensively.
Hargrave is the new Ziggy Hood a 4-3 DT, miscast in the Steelers 3-4.
Lawrence would make people say Hargrave who?

Just a thought, we all know that they won’t go and pay a big name CB in free agency.
My bet is on a corner in the first unless White would fall in their laps.

If you want a DE/DT the young man from Notre Dame would fit the bill in the 2nd if he’s there.

Jerry Tillery from ND?

Also, didn't Lawrence just fail a drug test?

No argument here Cop...my issue isn’t the player, it’s the position/use of the position. Using a prime draft pick on someone to play about 20 snaps per game(in the Steelers scheme),isn’t productive drafting, IMO. But yeah...very good player, failed drug test or not.
Just for the record...while I’m not exactly high on Hargrave, lumping him in with Ziggy Hood is unfair. Hood was an outright bust.

If the Steelers switch to a Hybrid defense then Lawrence would be great. As it stands now, NE will probably end up with him
