I don’t know if there’s big value at the top of the class, but I can’t remember having this many acceptable edge rushers pre-combine. Really good class overall.

Looking forward to see which of them are athletes suited to the position.

Like the list Demarr. Agreed, one of the deepest LB'er groups in recent draft memory. Hopefully the Steelers can draft 2 and perhaps land a few more after the draft UDFA.

If in the other thread you were talking about all (LBs ILBs & OLBs together) being a deep group, then I can buy that.

I'm a novice at best. You could be in the league doing this for a living IMO. Thanks for the kind words.

I would be really happy with the Oklahoma kid in the 2nd round.

Also think Dorance Armstrong is going to help himself this weekend.

I'll give you a freebie:

Okoronkwo is overrated by at least 2-3 rounds. He may be the worst edge player vs the run that I've seen this year. He's a very quick, very undersized edge guy. Great speed rusher, for sure. He's a less strong Pita Tamoepenu who played more in college, which is an important factor. I love Tamoepenu, but he went pick 202.

Final year of college, heading into draft:
Pita Tamoepenu: 41 tackles, 12 TFL, 9 sacks
Okoronkwo: 75 tackles, 17 tfl, 8 sacks

Tamoepenu played in a better conference and on a deeper defense, where they rotated edge guys more.

I think they are very similar style, size, athleticism players. Maybe Pita was undervalued a round or two and Oko overvalued a round or two.

If I remember correctly, most of us liked Pita a lot. He may have been undervalued.

I never saw Pita get washed 5-8 yds off the ball on a run play, though. I think Okoronkwo will either end up as an off-ball LEO or a 4-3 RDE who comes in on passing downs/nickel.
