Cam Sutton will likely be activated from the injured/reserved list into Gilbert's roster spot. Steelers have 4 weeks to decide who to cut.

And I’m sure all of Steeler Nation is grateful to Gilbert for buying our staff some time. 8-)

Anybody interested in RB Andre Ellington before he becomes an AllPro for the Pats? He was just released by BA in AZ. Always liked his receiving ability and has some KR experience. Health has been an issue though. I know reTodd liked his short, quick, 3rd down backs in the past.

Hate to say it, but someone will probably get hurt before then.

And even when Big Dan gets a helmet if one of the first 5 guys is hurt and a game day inactive ( CH, JH, ST, TA, LTW )
He still only sees one or two snaps.

On top of the Steelers running alot more 2 D-linemen sets.

Be a nice week with the Packers and a rookie QB to get Sutton active and a handful of defensive snaps.

I know it will not happen, but can he and Gay at least share some dime package snaps.

Let Sutton cover the slot or TE on plays where you want to blitz Hilton.

If not Hilton on the slot and Sutton on the TE for some man coverage.

Yep....

Steelers activated rookie CB Cameron Sutton (hamstring) from injured reserve.

The third-rounder missed most of camp with a hamstring injury before aggravating it in the preseason finale. The Steelers took the full three weeks to activate Sutton, suggesting he will be eased into action even with Joe Haden (leg) sidelined.

Tomlin says he's not sure when Sutton will play. Allen might dress for Pack since he plays on special teams.

WTF?! Put his ass on punt returns! This would be a perfect week for it. We need to start getting something from the return game. Absolutely, ridiculous we no longer even try?!?

We do what we do! I mean we're 8-2 so we have no room to improve at all. Steady as she goes...

Why risk rushing Sutton into action now if he's not ready? Ease him in so that he's ready for the most important part of the stretch run.

He could see spot duty as a gunner on special teams. But unless there is an injury to a starting CB he's not going to see much time on defense. Sensabaugh, Hayden, Burns, Hilton and Gay are locks for now.

I think that they will take some pressure off of Coty Sensabaugh by reducing his special teams snaps, that is typically what they do with a starter. Who knows when Haden may be back, and they will probably want to play it safe with Coty and just let him concentrate on defense. He played 64 of 65 snaps on defense last week against Tennessee and also 16 snaps on special teams. I can't see the Steelers continuing to do that.

So, I think Sutton is primed to play a lot on special teams and do some punt returns too. Who knows what the situation is with Mike Mitchell? With Haden and Mitchell injured, Sutton and Allen should both be active and playing special teams.

Hayden is off the crutches, riding a stationery bike and might be back for the Pats.

Allen has 19 snaps on ST this year so far. Active in 4 games including the Titians

Why not try him on punt return? There is no point in waiting to give him snaps during crucial playoff games when he has had no regular season reps. It would be good to give him some exposure.

Totally agree. Did a nice job at Tenn as a returner.

This is what I was hoping to see towards the second half of the season. Allen and Sutton on the field more. Unfortunately it did take injuries for that to unfold. Next man up.
