Yes he has struggled this year. Yes he wasn't perfect tonight. But gosh darnit, he was pretty damned good.

He may be on the downward slope of a great career. But I don't believe it's over. I think there's still some magic left in the bottle.

I'll enjoy every last minute of his career, and I'm not ready to give up yet.

He was pretty close to perfect. Remember Bryant dropped a TD and AB dropped a TD that hit him in the chest. He had a lot of pressure early on and was fantastic getting through that wave.

I'd be pretty pleased if he could keep this mojo going through February and then retire after winning SB MVP during our 7th. I'd prefer he didn't retire, but I think it's inevitable, especially if we win this year, although he could pull an Elway and win Super Bowls his last 2 seasons, which would be even better. :)

As we age we can't do all the things physically that we used to. And we probably shouldn't even attempt half of those things. But I'd like to think that we are all a hell of a lot wiser.

Although, there's been quite a bit of forcing throws into double coverage....way more than my liking. Even tonight.

Yeah, Ben had a great game, a game to put this offense back on track, but when you think about it for this game, what did people expect?

That was a Dick LeBeau defense out there!!!

As we all saw first hand repeatedly over his last few years as our former DC, if you have a struggling offense and/or QB the perfect medicine for that is to face a Dick LeBeau defense!

Thanks Dick!!!

Been meaning to post. I noticed the first two games Ben threw for 243 and 263 yards, avg 253. Then I checked his career avg ypg----252. Before tonight he was averaging 253 and change per game this year. That's pretty consistent for a considerable body of work.

I hope Ben shoves a crow in mouth every game from here on out.

I'll be delighted.

4 turnovers sure helped the cause.

And zero turnovers from our side (despite AB carrying the ball like a loaf of bread...)

Dick's QB repeatedly throwing it to the other team sure as hell didn't help

Ben was actually having fun out there tonight. He was calling plays (changing plays), and putting the ball in the endzone - all without the dumbfuck Haley! If we turn the game over to Ben and let him make the calls and go no huddle, I don't think there is a team we couldn't beat! The D fed off of the Offences success and they, too, balled out! The whole team was playing with passion and enthusiasm (I don't think they were until last night) - winning in that fashion has that kind of effect. Hope Ben goes rogue, says fuck you Haley, and takes over the offence. What are they gonna do about it - bench him? yeah, right! The whole team would be behind him if they started winning like this every game!

I agree #7 is looking better the last couple of weeks and the reason, I believe, is has played his way into decent football shape after 8 to 10 weeks of daily activity. I believe if he had come into camp in better shape he could have been at close to this level from the outset. I am not trying to be a Debbie Downer, what is past is past but that is my opinion on why he was lethargic and uneven for several weeks. it's simplistic but is a core issue.

I hope he continues to improve and we peak at the end of the season, cause I am convinced he packs it in at the end of the season. If he comes back next year expect exactly the same thing, slow start and hope for a hot finish.

Let's just hope Ben is picking up steam. Dude looked like he had some of that swagger back.

"Dilly Dilly": THE BEST DAMN CALL OF THE GAME! I heard that, I thought: Jesus H. Christ, game over! Only call that could possibly have been better would've been playing the last 5 seconds of the Pens winning the Cup in Tennessee late in the 4Q...Crowd likely would've gone ape shit....

Ben hadn't been nearly as bad as many people here have been saying. PIT has a very different, rather unrealistic standard for QB.

He missed more throws than normal the first half of the year. Receivers also left more plays than normal on the field. Combine that with the shitfest in JAX (in which 3 or 4 picks were pretty unlucky) and you basically get the numbers he and the team have had. There's been a ton of near misses on bombs or I'm not sure we ever really have this conversation. If Martavis finishes removing his head from his ass this conversation will basically be over.

All I know is, when the offense uses the whole field, the passing game is on an entirely different level. In that offense, Ben looks elite. Running the vaunted Haley U-attack, Ben looks kind of like a scrub.

I'd also agree the entire offense seemed to view those first 3 games as an extended pre-season. Less reps in camp (and during the week) clearly didn't help the timing in the passing game.
