Someone should get the "thread maid" in here to clean up from all the Patriot cock-guzzling and ballwashing in this thread? 8 pages, Damn!

Denver got manhandled last week and is at the bottom of the AFC West- with a guy who couldn't start in Cleveland. How is that indicative of how good or bad the Patriots are?

Anyone notice NE sidelines. Dress attire for the weekend in honor of Veterans Day was that faun colored garb Tomlin and Pagano's staffs wore. Not New England they said fuck you. Some people believe that New England is essentially a rogue franchise and the league is so dirty New England cannot be called out because they've got the goods on everyone. Some believe Commissioner Goodell has empowered them and put them in this position by not cracking down when he should have. If other teams are adhering to a script or restrictions like coverage or plays New England doesn't cooperate their goal is to win under any conditions. Some believe the Steelers are withholding lots of plays strategies schemes so cheating Bill can't prepare for the December matchup. Combine that with the simple fact that our front 7: Hargrave Tuitt Cam has to beat the piss out of NEs OL and fuck Brady up. James Watt Dupree Shaz VW on the field same time. Some believe that a group of owners know exactly what needs to be done, replace Goodell with a great businessman and in this politically correct world a guy like Ozzie Newsome would be perfect. Pete Rozelle expanded the league made scillians for everyone, increased the fan base. Goodell overexposed the sport, fractured the fraternity of owners. Some believe under Goodell there's a free-for-all, an owner can go rogue, teams are moving into markets that make no sense, the players got played by outside wealthy political interests and hurt themselves and the goose laying the golden eggs. Some believe if Goodell stays in place New England's getting 6 and 7. Our December match up with New England is in iceberg 90% of what's really going on is below the surface

Question up here Behind Enemy Lines is why does Kraft continue to support Goodell, given the outrage over Brady's Deflategate suspension. Speculation is that Kraft is angling for his son, Jonathan, to succeed Goodell as next Commish.

the nfl product is getting worse and worse as it is, but this would be me over the top in terms of not watching anymore. An owners son, the pompous fuck and troll Robert Krafts son no less....as commissioner?? Conflict of interest much?? ya id be done with the nfl if that happened.

lol.

That Denver punt returner, if not mistaken has been muffing punts all year.
5 fumbles, 2 lost in 8 games.
5'-7" and 173 to boot.

Any positive vibes they had after forcing the Pats to punt on their first possession was washed away and equally squashed after the fumbled quickly turned into 7 for the Pats.
after answering that mistake with a FG to close to 7-3......
The kick off return was just another quick momentum swing.
14 quick Pats points after only 34 yards of Pats offense.
Self inflicted wounds is no way to beat the Cheats.
Denver had zero pass rush as well.

Here's what I kept thinking while watching Denver lose: why in the world was out coaching staff unable to get Sanders and Ben on the same page. Imagine having Sanders as the number 2 two right now.

137 yards with Osweiler as your QB and Sanders could not produce with Ben? WTH!

IMO, it was a combination of Haley not using Sanders right, along with Sanders natural improvement progression as a player.

Haley sucked beyond belief his first 2 years here AND the Broncos got Sanders at the right time.

I think Sanders had some injuries with us and that really sunk his confidence. Plus he wasn't getting many balls thrown his way, and I think we were pretty run heavy at the time.

He definitely matured and came into his own when he had Manning with him. Remember that comment Sanders made about the difference in terms of "coaching" Manning gave him? I don't think that can be undersold in terms of his development

I'm not one to cry over spilled milk. But some board geniuses wanted to let him go to the Patriots for a 3rd after they signed him to a tender. It's true that Manny had some issues with his foot that plagued him in the SB and late in seasons when we needed him. And at the time he looked like damaged goods.

When Manning saw that his route tree was limited and took him under his wing like he did Thomas and now he's a star. He can run the slot stuff and the outside stuff- here we had Wallace and Bryant doing that. The problem with our WRs is that outside of AB and now JuJu they are specialists. MB looks lost when Ben throws him anything that doesn't fall into his bucket. Sunday is the 3 or fourth time I can recall he has just given up on a deep ball in the air.

Patriots have played better...especially defensively...with every passing week. It's not just the Denver game we're basing this on.

Go back and look at how they have been since they started 2-2.

It's quite clear they are getting stronger.

What would make you think any different about this years teams chances? This team can barely score 20 points and still has trouble beating literal who's. Tomlin & Haley are cancer to this organization.

Didn't Pittsburgh play the 32nd ranked defense today? 20 points?
What about Denvers defense? 41 points hanged on them in their house.

All I can say is that the Steelers always blow against shit teams. Look up the record on the road against sub-.500 teams over the past five years. Enough to make you vomit. Steelers generally step up against the heavyweights.

This year's team matches up better against NE. Both because the defense is better against the pass and because of the potential for balance on offense. Pats still are a bad draw for this team. But the chances are better IMHO.

As long as coaching doesn't change I don't believe anything will change. Losing to terrible teams on the regular speaks volumes about coaching. I'd understand if it happened every once in a while but it happens on a pretty consistent basis.
Well see in a few weeks.

I've been beating the Tomlin's Gotta Go drum for years.
We know the history.
We know that for whatever reasons, the Steelers play down and lose to inferior teams on an infuriatingly regular basis, especially on the road.

Yesterday in Indy, we stood by and watched as Ben and everybody on offense sucked out loud, and the defense got torched at the worst possible times...AGAIN!...
...the "Number One Pass Defense" gave up TWO huge, nearly backbreaking touchdowns!

...nearly...

...because we also stood by and watched this team, staring at a HUGE deficit, on the road, against a team that has been coming on strong in recent weeks and was definitely "up" to play the Steelers...
...and we saw our team overcome...

We saw 60 minutes of football.

When our defense started laying smacks on Brissett, I said to the guy watching with me, "that's it for him this game", and sure enough...
Then when I saw Ben begin to hit targets that were starting to catch the ball, I said, "We're gonna pull this out!", and sure enough...

...even after Boswell's Doink...

In the end, what we saw was the first Steelers win the week after the bye in 4 seasons to get to 7-2, in a "strong" position atop the AFC

...you know why I used the quotes, but that record is what it is.

In spite of everything that says I should, I am not giving up hope on this team.
The youthful talent is there, albeit a scary type of youthful at times...
The mature leadership has shown they CAN be there, and I have to hope those leaders can recognize the need and step up sooner going forward...

...that includes Coach Tomlin, et al...

Resisting all evidence pointing to the contrary, I STILL BELIEVE!!
You might want to consider doing the same.
Whoever washes your bedsheets will thank you...

The Pats have put up over 40 twice, and scored in the 30's 3 times.

We have a lot of talent, but let's not fool ourselves into thinking the level of football the Steelers have played to this point is going to bring us a Lombardi. We have to get better. But the cool thing is, we might.
