With a win Sunday, the #Steelers would become the 1st team with 450 regular season wins since the 1970 AFL-NFL merger

PIT 449
DAL & DEN 429

Quite the feat. Hadn't even realized the Steelers are, 'Are' the winningest franchise in modern football (since merger). Impressive. Congratulations to ownership for successfully building/creating the ultimate winner. Now go get #7 by February... :geek:

I actually thought this was common knowledge.

Still pretty impressive & by a pretty wide margin.

Sorry van, never sat and counted every victory. Of course knowing how many SB's is easy. Thought of it being significant since we're force fed the 'goat' qb(s), franchise(s) and such so frequently by the bandwagoners in the media. I'm interested in each season individually more so. Steelers set the standard and keep setting records. Nice change for me instead of enduring all the politics, drama and negative rhetoric we're always engaged with. Thought I'd share a little positive reinforcement is all.

I guess this means last week the steelers were the winningest team since the merger with 449 wins.

Not disparaging the poster or the post. Just wondering what the significance of 450 wins is in this case.

I remember at one point the Dolphins were the winningest, and I remember a minor deal made of it when we passed them. Pretty cool we're a full 20 wins ahead of the next teams.

Why does this record start with the merger in 1970, instead of the first SB back in 1967 (technically the '66 season)?

Is it because adding 4 years drops PIT into third or fourth place?

I’ll chalk this one up right next to ABs consecutive 5/50s. Nice to talk about...doesn’t mean jack shit.

I think the keys to this are steelers have avoided the horrific losing seasons most teams have had..the 1-2 win years..when steelers sucked since merger they still win 5-6..

No worries van I just feel compelled to provide some depth to my reasoning is all. Wasn't aware of the wins total specifically myself. I don't have a problem with anyone's opinion. Getting a kick out of all the sarca/cynical responses though. Here I thought it would be a welcome change on the positive side of things. What a dumb ass I am.

It's a GREAT thread, 77

It's awesome to be a fan of the team with the most wins since the merger (and most Lombardi's)

It starts the year the AFL & NFL merged into a combined league for the 1st time, before that they where separate leagues that didn't play each other during the regular season.
