I put Tomlin and Haley as #1 & #1A in terms of issues with the offense.

Ben is a close #2. Reason being, it's been long said Haley has an open door policy and welcomes input from his players.

If Ben isn't intimately involved in implementing the type of offense he wants then he should be.

It's 3rd and 6.

You're Todd Haley, what are you going to do?
Should you throw a 10 yard curl or another mid range route? That would give you 4 yards past the marker to spare for a 1st down. No, that would be too easy.

How about a Bubble Screen? Yes, you are Todd and you never get tired of the Bubble Screen. Sure that means the WR will have to put moves on 4 players to get that 6 yards after Catch, but it's bound to work, it's got to work. The Defense will never expect a Bubble Screen, right? Oh you are so smart and such a great golfer.

The whole team needs to do better. Including Ben. I'm sorry the worst play of that game was that Int. It was a killer and almost gave Browns a chance to win. Haley and Tomlin had fuck all to do with that. I get it some of you are dead set on screaming murder at Tomlin and Haley.

BTW on WR screens etc Ben has RPO so you can blame Haley all you want but to do so is to suggest he makes the RPO decision for Ben. He doesn't.

Agreed Clan. I haven't seen anyway argue that wasn't a bad decision and throw by Ben, and yes the whole team needs to be better. But going on there 6th season together, the Tomlin/Haley offense continues to be a shitfest, coaches are supposed to put players in positions to succeed, this horizontal shit sandwich of an offense isn't doing anyone any favors, thank goodness Ben and AB have great chemistry together and they were able to make enough plays to win in spite of penalties (coaching/unpreparedness) and a horrid offensive gameplan(coaching).

Remember, Ben criticized Bell for not being there to learn all the new things they were planning.

And Ben had all of 2 series in preseason, which doesn't do much for getting him and Bryant in sync.

Timing just looked off between Ben and Bryant/Bell. I do agree Ben was sloppy on some of those short swing passes and screens, but I don't really think it's a trend. When Ben has bad games/struggles, that is a big area where he struggles. Other elite QB's have bad games and struggles. Even the great Tom Brady only completes like 64% of his passes a year, which might actually seem kind of low when you consider how many short passes he throws to wide open guys off rubs and picks.

Ben can still fire a fastball with insane accuracy. He's going to be his normal self this year. Only concern here is injuries, and whether he hangs it up with some throws left in that arm.

Again, the RPO choices are generally between a run and a different kind of run

With a RB the caliber of Bell...
Ontop of his ability to loose defenders coming in route out of backfield....
You can make the case they should Not need to go many empty sets at all.

Why spread the defense and eliminate run possibility. Pushes the LB deeper into coverage....tightens passing lanes.

We know AB is a great route runner to beat all these guys in coverage. But MB is not....
I do not think JJSS created alot of separation in college....many contested passes.
We just make it easier for defenses to cover the field when we go so much empty set.
Not to mention leaving Ben wide open for free blitzes.
