I have debated whether Gay, Heyward-Bey, Adams, Ayers, Hilton, Golson, Hunter, McCullers, Hamilton, Coates and Hagen make the final roster. All IMO are fringe/bubble players. Here is what I came up with, so far.

CB William Gay, thanks for your service. Done in Pittsburgh.

OLB Keion Adams missing the last 9 practices I think it's very likely he's IR'd and taken off the market. Otherwise I think Adams is a perfect Practice Squad player.

WR/RS DeMarcus Ayers has fallen off a bit. Perhaps due to the stiff competition at WR this season. I believe he is still Practice Squad eligible.

CB Mike Hilton is a wild card to make the roster. He has shown the propensity to play in the big leagues. He has received raving reviews from both Lake and Butler. If Hilton doesn't make it, it's Practice Squad for sure. If he's not poached. Another CB to keep an eye on is Greg Ducre.

CB Senquez Golson is a bust. Not going to make any roster this season. Injury settlement is my guess. Cut!

DT Daniel McCullers is a huge disappointment. He hasn't done anything to anoint himself roster worthy. I think he is given his walking papers. Cut!

WR Cobi Hamilton is a tough one. He played his ass off last season and proved he belonged on the roster. I believe with the stiff competition this year he'll be playing on another roster.

WR Sammie Coates squeaks by and lands a roster spot. With Schuster injured it may be a done deal already. He will be #5 behind Rogers/Hunter unless Coates does something to improve his worth and move up the depth chart. That may start for him on ST's.

WR Darrius Heyward-Bey, Justin Hunter beats out Heyward-Bey for this roster spot. Hunter has already proven he can be a reliable target and has established a repoor with Ben however limited at this point. Hey-Bey cut.

Safety Jacob Hagen makes the roster this season. A surprise for most like the Dangerfield roster spot last season.

I'm with you except trade out Willie Gay for Steven Johnson. Also, Hagen is a FS but the distinction might not matter-- The Steelers view their safeties as interchangeable. I'm a little worried about Mike Mitchell injury, though. He's been out a while.

Not that I recall, but I do remember Troy Aikman whining about how "we're just prostitutes", and didn't Greg Lloyd make a statement to the effect of how they're just slaves too? I'm getting a little tired of the whining by millionaires. You guys are the best paid prostitutes and slaves I've ever heard of. To say nothing of the fact that you have a choice whether to play or not and slaves, you know, don't.

My view on Hagen is that he will be asked to fill in if Mitchell is not healthy and ready week one. A two fer. He'll likely get ST's play time as well. I think Golden is almost done in Pittsburgh and what keeps him on the roster is his ST's prowess. Likely with that many DB's/CB's several won't dress on game day. I think that comes down to the best fit per weekly opponent and who anoints themselves best player available. Gay for Johnson? I have Hilton beating Gay for his roster spot. I have Johnson making the 53 on his ST's prowess as well. Although, that said I don't recall Johnson really standing out last season in that role. Can he play ILB? I believe he could in a pinch but even there I believe he's limited. The hardest decision for me was Hamilton. I wish like crazy we had a better TE talent then Johnson too. Nothing against the guy personally. Just believe there has to be a better player available. I was hoping Scott Orndoff could come in as a rookie and essentially do the same job as well as offer higher upside than Johnson can. Orndoff was injured and released. I don't believe Odom even makes the practice squad let alone the 53. One injury and the shit hits the fan at TE position. Kinda alarming going forward.

Well I most definitely could be wrong. Like I said in another thread...sometimes I can't remember what I had for dinner yesterday.

Nix is a better talent than David Johnson who seems to just fall into his roster spot each season. They both are often times asked to do the same job. Why, I was hoping to see a higher upside talent TE brought in to replace Johnson.

Chef, I doubt Ayers sticks to the practice squad as well. I believe he'll be poached. Watson comes down to a numbers game. I really like Watson and love for him to get a spot on the 53. Gay is done. Gay is out matched by youth, exuberance and talent. His only ace in the hole is experience. We'll see what they do there. Coates isn't a lock by any means, yet. I can see him not making it. Injury seems to like him. With Juju injured I think Coates is the best "next man up" in that scenario. I feel like Coates is the better talent than either Ayers or Heyward-Bey. I've spent long hours debating whether or not to have 9 OLine. Pouncey is a given to the injury bug and Foster is the old man of the unit. I think Hubbard the utility OLineman can play any of the five spots with Finney playing interior leaving Hawkins as the swing tackle. Great depth. Perhaps Feiler will land a spot. LB's and DB's are deep and contribute on two fronts. Defense and Special teams. Side note. I hope Cooper is not poached from the ps should he land a spot there. Hearing good reviews on him throughout camp. Unfortunately for Watson, Toussaint would be the last resort at RB's IMO if they were to add an addition RB to the roster.
