Not that he has a chance in hell, but Corey Jones has my respect. He couldn't have been a nicer guy to my daughters last year when we had field passes.

I'm very interested in Ethan Cooper. Nice developmental guy, looked very nimble at the Shrine game. Could be this year's Finney.

Interested in these guys:

TJ Neal LB Auburn
Christian Brown DL West Virginia

These guys held Indiana offers coming out of high school, neat to see their names pop up here.

And obviously, looking forward to hearing about our draft picks.

Aside from the draft choices,
Dreamius Smith-- low mileage, big back with speed and good hands
Jacob Hagen- coverage free safety
Phazahn Odom- tall target move TE who moves like a WR
Ethan Cooper- small school Guard who has power and can move
Rokeem Williams- have heard some good things
Devonte Johnson- man cover CB who gets a head start on the rest of the non rookies in this crowded position group

The rookie mini camp and some of the players they bring in for tryouts, etc. is great for some to realize some dreams.

There are many players that will never play in the NFL, or even play in a preseason game, or hell even get to training camp. But to me it has got to be very cool to even be included in some small part of the process.

Many times you see the Steelers giving former players, coaches, extended family really, you see them bring in their kids for tryouts early in the process.

There is Mel Blount's son Akil Blount, there is Wayne Capers Jr, we drafted his father in the second round way back when. Karmichael Dunbar's father Karl was an 8th round pick by us in 1990. Mike Matthews is not related to Munchak, but for all intents and purposes I bet Mike considers him family.

Then you look at local kids like Mckeesport's own TJ Neal, etc.

I will say this, many may sour on this nepotism, but man, Mel Blount recommended CJ Goodwin a couple years ago and he found himself converted to CB for Atlanta and playing in the Super Bowl. So, you just never know.

B2B, you may have identified 6 of the 10 practice squad players.

I fully agree Scunge. Quite the honor and opportunity of a lifetime. Love the idea of an unknown/underdog and their story to unfold into a prosperous, Hollywood type ending. Goodwin is one of the very few that get to experience that result.

The other aspect is we're getting closer to actual football season and that makes me happy. Anticipation...

You can't keep a kicker named Blewitt.

Love it if Steelers unearthed another Rosie Nix from this bunch.

@steelers
We have released RB Dreamius Smith. The Steelers are now at their 90-man roster limit with the release of Smith in compliance with league rules. http://www.steelers.com/news/transactio ... 216ff9f7d2

Hmmm.... Good Luck to Mr. Smith.
