Martavis Bryant - WR - Steelers

NFL conditionally reinstated suspended Steelers WR Martavis Bryant.

Bryant's second NFL suspension is over after 407 days. Many players — Justin Blackmon, Daryl Washington, Josh Gordon — fail to make it back after being slapped with indefinite bans, so Bryant is ahead of the curve in that regard. He's one strike away from what would likely be permanent ineligibility, however. The 25 year old has to be a perfect citizen from here on out. A pterodactyl-like touchdown scorer, Bryant has 14 scores in 21 career games, and has averaged 17.3 yards per catch. He has the ability to be one of the biggest difference makers in the game at receiver. He was desperately missed opposite Antonio Brown in 2016. Bryant's upside and downside are equally self evident.

Martavis Bryant conditionally reinstated after drug suspension

Posted by Michael David Smith on April 25, 2017, 4:04 PM EDT

Steelers receiver Martavis Bryant has been conditionally reinstated to the NFL after he spent the entire 2016 season suspended for violation’s of the league’s substance abuse policy.

The NFL informed the Steelers today that Bryant may re-join the team, according to General Manager Kevin Colbert.

“We appreciate that he has taken the necessary steps in an effort to get his personal life in order. We also understand this is just the beginning as he works to return to the team and meet all of the conditions of his reinstatement,” Colbert said in a statement. “We look forward to working with Martavis to ensure that he is mentally and physically prepared to contribute to our efforts on the field, while also maintaining the proper balance to keep his life in order off the field.”

Bryant can participate in team meetings and offseason workouts effective immediately. He will be allowed to participate in training camp practices and preseason games provided that he demonstrates before camp that he has made arrangements to continue drug treatment in Pittsburgh.

Before the regular season the NFL will review his progress, and if he has complied with drug treatment he will be fully reinstated for Week One.

Bryant is a big-play wide receiver who showed great promise before failed drug tests cost him the 2016 season. If he’s fully committed to football, he could be a big part of the Steelers’ offense in 2017.

Nice to know before the draft. That's for sure. I'd still take the token mid-round flyer on a WR. Maybe a B2B Directional

They sure really dragged their feet on this. Never any indication of any reason why his suspension shouldn't have been lifted (and much sooner after the season ended, frankly).

Colbert has drafted a WR in 14 out of 17 drafts. It's a good bet that we'll take one.

Exactly. This info is HUGE 2 days prior to the draft.

We should be able to dismiss John Ross and any other 1st Rd wideouts.

Not gonna happen, but Njoku at 30 would be like....

*cums

Good news if lad can keep his head together he can take his game and Steelers offense to next level. Hopefully reports he has been working out like crazy are true. He has alot to prove.
