If the Switzinator doesn't earn a spot on the team then by all means, I'm with you, the fucker needs to go. If he can keep from being smashed like a bug though, he's gonna do it. It's obvious to me.

Switzer is a tough bastard and made some plays early.

As the season wore on, he became less and less effective.

Both as a receiver and as a returner.

He'll now have serious competition as both a returner and as a receiver.

That's why I caution you to be careful guaranteeing Switzer a spot.

Zero doubt they will find ways to get Samuels on the field. He has elite receiving skills and looked surprisingly good as a runner.

Then you have Diontae's serious skills as a returner.

Switz better bring his A+ game, if he has one, to camp.

This is not really on topic 100% but just heard a crazy stat and it deals with WR.
Assclownio scored a TD on his first touch with the Steelers.
JuJu scored a TD on his first catch with the Steelers.
James Washington scored a TD on his first catch with the Steelers.

Pressure is now on Dionte Johnson.

Well, I've said this before on more than a few occasions. The son of a bitch did have ankle surgery IMMEDIATELY after the season ended. He claims it was toasted for the MAJORITY of the season. When you're 5'8" 180, you need every bit of lateral agility those bastards afford you... Playing against the... ahem, folks you're playing against in the nfl. Dude was compromised, yet still delivered more often than not. He has the LYNCH two thumbs up of approval.

Pretty sure Mike Wallace dropped a bomb on his first touch that would have been a TD.

I can't remember if it was his first touch, but Louis Lipps scored an 80 yard TD in the 2nd quarter of his first NFL game as a rookie. He had 6 catches for 183 yards and 2 TDs for the day. The 80 yard TD was from David Woodley and the 21 yard TD was thrown by Mark Malone.

It is possible for a Steeler rookie WR to come in and play great from day one in the first game, even with crappy QBs throwing to him. So what can Diontae Johnson do as a rookie in his first game with a Hall of Fame QB throwing to him?? The sky is the limit.

I just hope Clank Johnson's hands don't make Sammie Coates' look like Jerry Rice's.

Do you base this on all the college tape of Johnson that you've watched?

My hope? Not really. He just reminds me of Clank Sanders.

If he gets a SB ring like Sanders that will do just fine.

In what way? What similarities in their play, how they catch the ball have you seen? Based on your admittedly low knowledge of Johnson's play, you must be a Manny Sanders expert.

Please, enlighten me as to how you came up with this novel and insightful comparison.

They way they move, stoney, They look very similar. I started calling him the second coming of clank in the draft chat after he was selected, jacking with KC. If you haven't yet gathered, I don't get real serious about much here.

The way they move and the way they look. You're right, that's not very serious. Or deep, or interesting, or insightful.

Sorry to disappoint ya dude. That was kinda IC's forte. We need the bastard back to help educate the dullards.

It's all Belicheat (and Ernie). Everyone else in that offense is plug-n-play, why should QB be any different?

In fact, we have some evidence that's exactly the case. If that offense can make Matt Cassell and Jimmy Garapalo into franchise QB's, imagine what it would do for Ben or Rogers.

So is it something we/the rest of the league could replicate or is it top secret stuff from the mind of Ernie that the rest of the league hasn't figured out yet?

No. Not without all aspects of NE/Belichek

1) a division of total ass where we have 5-6 victories penciled in in August
2) an iron disciplined coach that will beat the fundamentals into all players, not play favorites and not tolerate indiscipline
3) a coach who is a defensive genius that reduces opponent scoring by 7-14 points by taking out their greatest weapons
4) a QB who decides quick and plays focused and safe, minimizing his turnovers
5) a cut throat FO that will not allow favored players to hang on and will trade them early to get more
value

I don't think you can point to Belchertown, err Belicheats draft day antics (trading down so much) and say he has been more effective.

I remember arguing with IC about Jarvis Jones being a horrific draft pick.

IC told me; "Jarvis is a football player".

Well Jarvis wasn't a "football player" for long.

IC sure educated me.

IC also told me it would be impossible for Jerricho Cotchery to have 7 TD catches in an entire season.

Turns out IC was correct. Cotchery had 10 TD catches.

Lol.. I remember early on in the Cotch watch. He'd score a TD or two every game or so, and IC would be like "yeah, but he's not getting many yards" lol, I think that watch may have been the beginning of the end for him. I like to imagine him in an insane asylum nowadays, like that one from slingblade, pulling up a chair to some dude and asking "Have you even heard of Hines Ward? What about Jericho Cotchery?"

I honestly hope the guy is okay and living a happy life.

He was wound tight as fuck and you could literally feel him seething over the internet.

I believe he had some health problems too so.......I seriously hope the guy's still around.

I personally thought the beginning of the end for IC was his insistence that even though it was clear early on that both AB and Sanders were light-years better than Antwaan Randle El at the end of his career, it was important to play veterans because the rookies were more prone to "the terrible mistake". (Shortly after that came an analysis of Randle El's punt returns in 2010 showing numerous occasions where he completely fucked up and buried the Steelers in terrible FP).

Either that or when he laughed at me for insisting that sometimes coaches and players would overlook an opponent...even now I think we now have multiple examples of that happening with this team.

Lol, I remember that too. It may have been a long downward spiral for ole IC lol.

There is a good chance Dwight "hands of" Stone did as well.

Didn’t Martavis high-point a blind prayer for a TD on his first catch? Or it could be the magical realism Martavis who plays for the fictional Steelers in my head.

listening to a podcast today and Ben said he was throwing bad balls to DJ on purpose and the kid caught every pass. Ben wanted to see how he would react to the bad passes. Got some praise from his QB.
