Ben's extension should be done and announced by Monday

It's a BIG if but IF they sign those two and IF the Houston news is real... holy shit, that would be an incredible offseason.

I'm not even sure they have the cap space for that, but it's fun just thinking about it.

extend Ben 8.5M
extend Haden 5M
cut Burnett 3.6M
Heyward 2.5M
cut Grimble 2M
cut Bostic 1.8M
cut Artie 1.7M
-------------
($25.1M in space. + 6.5 in current cap space) - rookie signings cap hit = ~$29.1M ish space

My hopes went full throttle thinking Houston. I’d be happy as hell. The. I got to thinking KJ Wright. I’d be happy with that also.

Then you made this post. Idk about Collins. But Jared Cook has always been on my wish list. He’d be great!

CB group: Haden, Nelson, Hilton, Sutton, Allen or draft pick
EDGE group: Watt, Houston, Dupree, Ola, Chick
ILB group: Collins, Bince, Matakevich, draft pick
TEs: Macdonald, Cook, McGee, draft pick
WR group: JuJu, Moncrief, Washington, draft pick, Eli, Switzer
RB group: Conner, Samuels, Nix, draft pick

That leaves 5 draft picks for Dime backer, Safety, DL depth, edge rush project, STs

Listen, have to assume he was unhappy in Cleveland-- I think he might be a big upgrade here. Can play coverage LB and can also rush the passer. If he's done, he's done, but he's athletically superior to anyone on our team.

Cook would be tremendous. I saw HaHa signed for like 4 million on a one year deal. Could cut Burnett and sign a younger FA if that’s the going rate.

IDK. I know that you’ve liked him since he came out, but the guy is a chronic underachiever, if you ask me. His numbers are pretty JAGish, and seems to be a bit of a malcontent. I can’t argue that he could be better than what we have, not that hard to imagine, but where does he fit in and at what cost.

This would be a great pickup if it were to happen the guy punches tickets and makes plays in the passing game. Could really dictate to a D with Vanimal and him on the field with 2 WR's and a RB.

SO. I liked him as an edge rusher. I thought he'd be a fantastic edge rusher as a 3-4 weakside OLB. But he shined as a WOLB in NE. And, honestly, he was pretty good in Cleveland, believe it or not.

2018 stats:
Bostic: 46 solo 73 combined, 5 TFL, 4 QB hits, 2.5 sacks, 0 INT, 3 PD, 0 FF, 0 FR
Bince: 50 solo 76 combined, 8 TFL, 10 QB hits, 4.5 sacks, 1 INT, 2 PD, 0 FF, 0 FR;
Collins: 73 solo, 104 combined, 13 TFL, 7 QB hits, 4 sacks, 1 INT, 4 PD, 1 FF, 1 FR

Cut Burnett , Grimble, Burns, and Boswell.
Extend Ben, Haden, Finney

Sign:
TE Jared Cook
OLB Justin Houston
S Tre Boston
K Stephen Gostkowski

Draft
ILB, RB, WR, CB, S

On a side note, they can get 5 top 100 players by trading a package of 4th, 5th and 6th round picks to get an extra 3rd.

In a second!!!

Sometimes, I wish some of the posters here were the GM of the Steelers or the Coach!

Perch's decision making is too "risky" for the ultra-risk averse Steelers organization. They do what they do.

Would not surprise me one bit that some posters here have submitted their resumes to the organization

My picks

DC - steelman58
OC - Nick79

Combine interviewer - Ron
Bust factor analyst - FC

My hope is Lolley is accurate. I believe the Steelers are still in a very good spot to acquire some decent vet depth through FA. Cook would be outstanding. Collins/Houston would be shockingly astounding.
