Houston would be an interesting play. Take away his monster 22 sack year in 2014 and he's never had more than 11. He's been averaging 9 the last couple years. Injuries have been a factor. The question is how much does he have left in the tank. I think he has 2 years left at a pretty high level.

I have always been a big believer that you can NEVER have enough pass rushers...especially edge rushers. Our guys are dog tired in the 4th quarter and there simply isn't quality pass rushing coming from the bench. Dupree or Watt tired? We send in Chickillo or the likes of Moats to be stuffed. How nice would it to be to mix in a fresher Houston to pin his ears back and attack? It certainly would make Watt's life easier because right now no one takes Dupree sincerely at all (ie. they don't commit more than 1 man to him ever).

For the right price, I'd be intrigued by this deal.

id agree in that he has a couple good years left and yes injuries have taken a toll on him. Whens hes on hes not only a great pass rusher..he is an elite run stuffer as well..probably the best OLB at setting the edge

Apparently he started following Haden, Shazier & Pouncey on Twitter, if that's worth anything...

Lets get some estimates here on the asking price...

If he really does check out medically, I don’t see us having the cap space to bring him in.

He would be coming in as a wave player since its clear that full time duty doesn’t seem possible for him at this point.

$8M/yr?

I dont see it. That would make 3 fuckin guys making more money than TJ Watt. Thats bad optics and it sets a negative tone in the locker room no matter how good of a kid Watt is.

That's an interesting perspective, but I think players understand the business. TJ will get his payday soon. If you bring in a FA that helps you win, I don't think players will be upset if the guy has earned his money.

I was wondering if any one thinks when The steelers and Ben get an extension done they will also announce Houston signing ? I find it weird that he has not signed with anyone yet and no news about him at all .

Exactly what I've been thinking 58. His market has been awfully quiet since the talk of the Steelers signing him last week. Would make a lot of sense they announce it at the same time Ben's deal is done. I sure hope so.

Praying this is the case

Outside of his obvious skill set, it would be nice to add another leader to the locker room.

Not so sure on this theory anymore.

Fittipaldo said in his chat today that as of last week they were not close on Ben's extension.

Also read Justin Houston is looking for $10 million this year.

I'd still do it at $10M per year
Steelers are gonna blow after Ben is gone anyway..load it up

Unfortunately, (or maybe fortunately?) the Steelers FO isn’t going to look at it that way...

The Steelers think they will still be competing when Ben retires.
