Steelers ILB L.J. Fort signs a three-year deal with the Eagles that can reach up to $10 million with playing time incentives, according to a source. The deal includes $1.9 million in guarantees. Steelers made efforts to keep him but he had other suitors.

Would re-signing Fort at $3 - $3.5 a year been a much better decision than keeping Chickillo at $4..............given what we have now at ILB.

Williams
Bostic
Fort
Red.

You can literally replace all 4........or at least 3 of the 4.

Tho one can argue...the OLB is a drop off after Watt

Watt
Dupree
Ola
Chick
Adams

If we do not add a starting ILB in FA..............to at least replace Bostic.
A FA ILB that can stay on the field on third downs over Bostic and Williams...........
Then we need a day one starter at ILB in the draft.
Hope we do not force a draft pick at ILB if one is not there at #20.

Steelers need to draft an early round ILB to challenge a starting spot and or step right in.
Steelers need to draft a mid to late round ILB to be the #3 or #4 ILB.
They need to draft an OLB / DE tweener, pass rusher to compete with the guys not named Watt.
I am hoping Ola is the guy to push Dupree to part time duty or at least into a rotation.

Bottom line, as bad as ST have been, the Steelers probably could not afford to lose both Chick and Fort off ST's.

I wanted to bring in Zach brown last year before they signed Bostic.

He still out there?

He signed for three years and $21 million last FA period.
Cut by the Redskins.

At 29 he would be a one or two year guy .

Can he be had for $4-5 Million?
2 year $10 million. $3 million guaranteed?

He has played in 61 of a possible 64 games the last 4 years.
46 starts in those 61 games.
449 tackles the last 4 years in 46 starts.

Sealed his fate by tweeting. Getting to think the Steelers have zero tolerance for zoo antics now. We'll see.

Good for Fort! He was very underused and underappreciated by the Steelers. I liked him better than VW or Bostic, but was never given a real chance. It really had to bite when they brought Spence back, after leaving, and he started over him.

He basically called out Boswell

Good. Hopefully that means his Mom stops coming to our fan club bar here in KC and having to be nice to her.

AB's Dad used to come up until a few years ago. Not hard to figure out how AB was a colossal dickhead.

Damn. Had no idea it was genetic. Could have just as easily been nurture, I suppose. He's probably not coming back, either.

Fort made the comment that the remaining playoff teams all had good kickers. That has been taken to mean he was calling out Boswell, but I don't know if he was or not.

So Fort did nothing of relevance for a majority of his career. Comes out last season and makes some contributions and everyone is worried about the LB'er corps? I'd be worried if they still had Fort in the fold. There is not one player in that group that inspires winning football for me. That group has to be the weakest group on the team. They had better land someone to upgrade it and it needs to be a better player than Fort was. Matakevich is garbage. VWill is barley veteran JAG and Bostic is a paycheck thief just like Burnette. Both need to be shown the exit and replaced either through the draft and/or free agency.
