The Vikings have needs along the o-line and at linebacker but the highest rated player remaining on their board plays a position where they could use another weapon but don't necessarily need one. The Vikes stick to their board...

The Minnesota Vikings select Hakeem Butler - WR - Iowa State

The Pittsburgh Steelers race to the podium to take a little bit of a projection, but the traits are there.

It's a cliché to say "the Steelers have to replace Ryan Shazier". Of course, they literally need to find an ILB but finding a Shazier is pretty tough. But I did something––I went back and looked at Ryan Shazier's college tape. This player looks about as much like Shazier as you could imagine a guy looking, aside from the fact he has hair. He has many of the same issues in his game and many of the same enticing traits: speed, hitting, loose hips, COD are all outlier. I think he's a better tackler than Shazier at this stage, and if not quite as extreme fast like RS, at least he has some of the same speed and burst. His issues are mostly play recognition-related and, considering that he's still a young player, I think I can coach him to be better and unlock his play speed, just like I did with Shazier. He may not be ready to play out of the box, but he'll still be able to be disruptive and exciting from day one.

With the 52nd pick in the SF Board draft, the Pittsburgh Steelers select:

Dallas is franchise-tagging Demarcus Lawrence for the second year in a row. They seem to be at an impasse with a long-term deal. Randy Gregory is suspended, again. Although the Cowboys have bigger immediate needs, there is no #3 EDGE in Dallas, and the value here is too good to pass up. The Cowboys select:

The Chiefs grab a guy who they will help anchor the new defensive scheme.

With the 61st pick in the draft, the Kansas City Chiefs select Joe Jackson, DE, Miami.

With their second pick in the 2nd round, the Chiefs feel fortunate to have another prospect who has fallen down the draft board who can help solidify the secondary with the cutting of Eric Berry (talk about a run on sentence).

With the 63rd pick in the draft, the Kansas City Chiefs select Deionte Thompson, SAF, Alabama.

To me the hardest part of the draft isn't identifying prospects with talent, and it isn't imagining their potential fit on your team. The hardest part is trusting your board, even when you have a guy higher than others do–– especially the part where you try and figure out how long you can wait to get a guy you have identified as the best fit at a certain value. How early can you take a value pick and still have the value?

I like the addition of Moncrief, I'm neither sold on Washington nor doubting that he'll contribute. But, to me, there's still a piece missing. Even if they sign Golden Tate, it seems like there is something missing. Sure, JuJu and Tate are dogs of the first order, Washington a 50/50 guy with great work ethic, Moncrief possibly a viable outside threat, and Switzer/Rogers not the worst slot guys ever.

But speed, gentlemen, is paramount. Taking away AB, there's a real missing element of speed that the defense has to account for–– has to back off of and give up space. Speed is crucial... SPEED, like the kind with capital letters and a "beep-beep" soundtrack-- you can never have enough.

This player is possibly the best return guy in college football, is an ascending player who is relatively new to the position and played in a heavy-run offense coordinated with the imagination of the average anvil. Despite his overall lack of polish, he has a lot of great habits––extends his hands and catches away from his body, shows elite feet both in COD without slowing and in YAC... as was once said of Tarik Cohen, this player basically can turn any play into a punt return and he can also turn any punt return/broken field play into 6 faster than you can say Antonio Brown. He can immediately give you some good looks in 3 and 4 wide, he is an instant upgrade in PR/KR, he's a terrific gunner on punt coverage, and with some hard work, you might make him into a Tyreek Hill or perhaps more nuanced route-runner, even.

With the 66th pick in the SF Board draft, the Pittsburgh steelers select:

Mecole Hardman, WR, Georgia

Jaguars run to the podium for FS Juan Thornhill.
They just released their starting Free safety.
I really like Thornhill. Can cover hit tackle and has great ball skills.
Blew up the combine with 4.43, 42 inch vertical, 11 broad jump.

Free agency (Sorry about Hicks, Steelers Nation) and Pitty (your bag of dicks is available for pickup at your local butcher) taking Williams left us with the thought that Terrell Suggs is like 73 years old, and Father Time and all that. So, with that in mind, it came down to a couple of guys. We went with a guy with a nonstop motor, some great tape against high level competition, plays every play with his hair on fire, film junkie who comes at every snap with a plan. Best of all, no matter what you think of our coaching staff, they're better than Harbaugh and scUM.

Chase Winovich, Edge, scUM.

Surprised, Drama?
