We've already started talking to him and his representative about extending that contract. I think Ben has some good years left. I'd still say he's close to being in the prime of his career. Now that we're seeing quarterbacks around the league that are playing into their 40s. I'm not sure there's any reason that Ben can't play for several more years. We're looking forward to that.

Does he pull a Brady and take a hometown discount? Probably not, but it would be a nice surprise.

Let him walk and and let's start fresh. He's not hungry enough and he is arrogant. There will be no more Super Bowls with this head coach/QB combination.

I wonder what Shannon Sharpe thinks about this?

Hopefully this is a troll and not serious.

The Steelers aren't ever going to have a QB like Ben again.

Please stop with this...Brady is married to a super model that probably makes 10x what he does. He could play for nothing, and not hurt their bottom line.

Ben needs to play smarter at times, but he's far and away the most important and indispensable Steeler. Those who haven't figured that out by now I can't take seriously.

That said, they need to start looking at Rudolph as the #2. Dobbs is not that guy.

I wonder how much longer Ben can REALLY play...

Most sacked QBs all time:

1 Brett Favre+ 525
2 John Elway+ 516
3 Ben Roethlisberger 501
4 Dave Krieg 494
5 Randall Cunningham 484
6 Phil Simms 477
7 Tom Brady 473

Brady has played 5 years longer and take a seasons worth less punishment...

Trivia - Peyton Manning.... only sacked 303 times. 49th all time

Between Tomlin and all the other BS, I hope Ben can get that record!

In the modern NFL, that's a record that might be almost unbreakable....

I mean, he’s only 25 sacks away from having that record. I know he didn’t get sacked a lot this year but if he ends up playing out whatever extension they give him he will definitely hold that record.

20 games, tops. Pretty sure he'll get that record.

I am dead serious.

I wonder if the Packers thought that way after Brett Favre - enter Aaron Rodgers

I wonder if the 49ers thought that way after Joe Montana - enter Steve Young

I wonder if the Colts thought that way after Peyton Manning - enter Andrew Luck.

You act like Ben is Tom Brady.

Seems like you're traumatized after all those barren years after Bradshaw which really did not have to happen (Marino was there for us to take).

Even the Cowboys found decent QBs after Staubach - Aikman and Romo.

Unless you're the damn Jets or Dolphins you will find another franchise QB. They're easier to find now more than ever.

Let Ben walk. He is now a destroyer of teams, not hungry, and arrogant.

Throwing people under the bus is so immature. He could not hold Brady's jock strap with regard to any aspect of this game. Ben is a mental midget. That makes him and Tomlin brothers. I am sure Ben loves Tomlin because Tomlin is his bitch. Ben needs to be checked and put in his place, but Tomlin will never do it.

Let his ass go.

Let him and Tomlin go.

I am sick of them both.

They are both teasers.

Aaron Rodgers has 412 sacks and he was sacked 49 times last season. Rodgers has played in 51 less games then Ben but is only trailing by 89 sacks. 4 or 5 years from now Rodgers may own the sack record if his line keeps giving him such great pass protection! Ben's O-line is doing a pretty good job of keeping him clean, the past 4 years averaging just 20.5 per season.

As far as Ben's contract, I am hoping for $8 million to be freed up for 2019, which can be used to pursue a top tier defensive free agent.

The bolded is super overrated. How many franchise QB are really leading their teams every year like Ben has?

Their really aren't too many franchise QBs out there. Unless you think guys like Watson are championship caliber QBs, i'm not so sure they are.

Love Ben more than any other QB in Steelers history, including Bradshaw, but he continues to have far too many WTF games/moments each season.

Ben is likely better than whatever the alternative might be, but sheesh.

You're a fucking Hall of Famer. You cannot have games like the opening contest vs. the Browns (Jesus H. Christ was Roethlisberger AWFUL) or moments like the final play of the Denver game.

I hope there is some way somebody can get him to play less idiotic at times.

That and you can absolutely GUARANTEE Brady is making up the difference via "other" means. Kraft is paying him plenty through other means.

Agreed KC. Most of the time, Ben is a HOF QB. He makes it look easy.
And then the bone-headed INT's happen, and your like WTH?
He is the reason this offense is so good and the reason we didn't put a few games away last year.

Ben's wife isn't a multi-millionaire Super Model. My priority would be the same as Lev Bell's MO$T, MO$T, MO$T... having it assured that I have $o much ca$h that my kids can die at 100 and still be wealthy I$ more important than another ring, but that's just me.

But Ben also has the physique of a 1980s offensive tackle, 6-5 260. He may be the biggest strongest QB that played this long at a high level.
