I have to admit it's posts like these that make us look bad here when we're supposed to be rational.

Mike Tomlin has many shortcomings as a head coach that make me believe we won't ever sniff a Super Bowl again with him at the helm.

But he's not a complete and utter moron, and there's no reason to keep making him out to be.

Yesterday my post was irrational, in another thread this morning you're acknowledging Tomlin can't fix this.

I like Mike Tomlin, I respect and admire any man who takes care of his family and shows up to work everyday. I don't like him as coach of the Steelers. He does not possess the qualities necessary to out-think other coaches and win the top prize. In addition to lacking some of the intellectual, cerebral requirements I don't know that he has the necessary disposition. He seems like a gentle man, the job calls for someone with a vicious streak.

In a free market system there is a distinct relationship between the level of compensation and the level of responsibility, going slightly deeper there is also a return of investment expected by the BOD & ownership for that compensation. The Steelers, like many NFL teams are in a unique category of being a quasi public utility, aside from the obvious public relations impact, being the warriors for the city-state, their real estate is funded by public money; considering the dirty deals done by the local corrupt politicians God knows how much tax money is actually allocated from the hard-working citizens of Pittsburgh to the Steelers. Mike Tomlin earns $7 million a year, that's $134,615 per week, $437,500 per game. Who in their right mind would tell you that this guy has earned that salary based on 2018 performance? Now the decision to add assistant coaches to fill the capacities that he is unable to fulfill is a violation of the old principal "good money after bad." His accountability to players, BOD, & Pittsburgh is not commensurate with his compensation. He should be terminated immediately.

Keeping him as HC is an irrational act.

I didn’t say keep him as coach.

I didn’t say he didn’t have fatal shortcomings.

I said we don’t have to use language that suggests he’s an utter moron.

Did I say I disapproved of what Tomlin did?

I made no value judgement...simply asserted his actions during and after the act convinced me he did it on purpose.

That’s not a tin-foil hat attitude there B2B.

You're right. I missed it. Anyone who can score a gig for $7 million a year based on bullshit and incompetence is fucking brilliant.

Cowher pulled his arm back and nearly punched an opposing player, on purpose.

At Jacksonville in prime time. Steelers lined up for what should have been the..winning?...field goal only to have it blocked and returned for a TD. As the Jag with the ball is running by, Cowher cocks his fist and fortunately does not actually clock him.

Then there was stuffing a photo in a refs shirt. Ah the good old days with young Cowher.

Jacksonville was a monday night game in '97 I was in Mangaf Kuwait watching at like 4 or 5 am I was so fucking mad.

The Vikings game with the stuffing the picture in the refs pocket was when he won the entire city over. He stood up for what was right and his team. People want to talk about players ready to run through a wall for a coach that basically got all the players to buy into Cowher was with them win lose or draw.

Did Cowher sit there and watch the jombotron pacing the field just inbounds? Was Cowher anticipating when the player would run by so he could time his fighting stance just right to cause the player to be distracted? Did Cowher's actions happen on the field of play? Was it something that interfered with the play on the field? I didn't think so. Apples oranges. Cowher has his faults for sure no debate. Tomlin looked like a cheating juvenile coaching assistant and Not a Head Coach. JMO
