That group is downright nasty. Ben had all day to throw back there. I got really fired up when DeCastro got in Reid's face. These guys are on a mission this year and I think we can thank Bell for that.

That was the 35 yard completion to AB.

Ben was standing straight up and reading through the routes completely unconcerned about a Panthers player getting near him.

When they watch film this week, that has be the play that Munchak smiles the most at.

The stat that tells you Ben has 100% confidence in his line is the 22-25 last night.

He is stepping into throws.......

Great job by the line!!

Best unit Ben has ever had in front of him. Bar none.

Mike Munchak is an OL magician.

They are playing great. As the old saying goes....the offense goes as the O line goes. A good example is Dak Prescott a few years ago. He had all day to stand and deliver behind a great O line and everyone was anointing him the next HOF QB. Add some key injuries to his line and he's a below average-to-hot seat QB all of the sudden.

Munch is our MVP, imo. He's an O line whisperer!

The last two weeks have showed that they can handle some pretty dominant fronts.

Being able to run it last week and last night (Conner was looking great before protocol) showed me a lot. They have been simply amazing, both run and pass blocking.

Feiler looks like a starter in this league. Strongly consider cutiting Gilbert in the offseason. Might want to hold on to Foster for another 2 years.

The OL has not missed a beat with Gilbert out.

Whatever Munch wants, short of the head coaching or OC gigs, he should get. He's worth his weight in Matt Feilers.

I actually think Matt "Anchor" Feiler and DD play together a little better than Gilbert and DD.

I go back and forth on cutting or keeping Gilbert next year. Munch gives me confidence that we could cut him and use his $4.9M cap savings towards a D player, but, on the other hand, that same money is not that much to pay for top shelf depth (even if he only available 65% of the time) at a very key position.

Fortunately for Steelers fans, Ben can make things work fairly well even with an inferior line in front of him.....but WOW!!!!! Give him a line like this and he can work magic.

On the dart to Brown he just stood there and went through his progressions - no dancing, no moving around just a 3-5 step drop and stand there looking for the best option to throw the ball to. It looked more like a drill in camp than an in game play. So fun to watch!!!

Feiler learned a good lesson from Julius Peppers that was embarrassing, but it will help going forward. Looked like Matt was too far in front of his hips and let Peppers' hands get into him before Feiler's punch landed.

Feiler is playing very good football, 4 starts this year and 1 last year.
Can not recall penalties, but can not recall his name being called either.
Is there an NFL stat that tracks penalties for OL?

At 6'-6' and 330 lbs, he has the same measurables as Gilbert.
But he carries that weight much better than Gilbert, as he does not look 330.
Plus he is 4 years younger.

Add the 3M effect,
Munchak Magical Molding...........
Not only will Feiler continue to learn and improve, he is a good bet to take Chucks Okorafor ( 6'-6" / 320 ) and Zach Banner ( 6'-8" / 360 ) and turn those two young monsters into the next wave of OT depth / furture starters.

Hence, Villy and Feiler as starters, with Chucks and Banner as depth most likely makes the decision to move on from Gilbert and his injuries / salary, a very possible option.
Gilbert base salary for 2019 is $4.8 million.

Feiler, Chucks and Banner combined salary for 2018 is less than $1.6 million.

Chucks is under contract for 2019 at $620K
Both Feiler and Banner were paid $555k this year and are ERFA for 2019.

Munch is one of the best acquisitions the steelers have made in the last ten years. Or more.

Agreed.

The offense is so in sync blocking as a unit. A well oiled blocking machine.

MM has been the great especially with the UDFA and fitting them in and not missing a beat . I like to see in the future with BJ replacing Foster and Matt replacing Gilbert.
