Glad to see some element of surprise with Grimble getting some wide open looks.

We have two TEs on pace for over 700 yards.

Wow.

Assuming those yards that were supposed to go to #3 WR are getting distributed to the TEs.

Actually, even if Washington had proved to be an early season stud, I think they like to run two TE sets with VMac and JJ much of the time. It gives them lots of options and makes any D they face put more bigs on the field, which, in turn, helps Ben with the PA pass we've seen more of.

Yeah, wow on the bolded. Is this the Pittsburgh Steelers we are talking about?

Vance + JJ is so much more dynamic than Heath + Spaeth (an understatement)

This is the TE trend I want to see continue for this franchise. Look at the catch %... Vance at 80%, JJ at 81%.

Keep funneling the football to the middle of the field to those big TE targets.

And think of the incredible potential versatility of this offense if we starting getting a contribution from our 3rd WR.

Washington was a preseason beast... vs 2nd and 3rd teamers (if I recall correctly). Used his physicality to dominate his opponent but at that competition level.

I still have hopes for the kid though.

Washington is the least of my concerns on offense. He'll get acclimated soon enough

I agree. I believe Fitchner's use of 3 TEs, some FB (Nix), and the occasional extra O lineman has slowed Washington's progress and the need to rely heavily on the WR3.

The thing that's slowed Washington's progress is that he can't separate deep.

After re-watching the game late last night I have to agree. This player is exciting. Really decent hands, decent route running and awesome RAC skills. Reminded one of the announcers (Eagle) of Ditka. Just a bad man once he gets the ball in his possession. Hopefully McDonald stays healthy throughout the rest of the season. That game looked to me like the Steelers were in the beginnings of a hot streak. Solid win.

Vance is wr fast too. If he can stay healthy I don’t see why pro bowls won’t be part of his future.

Too early to give up on Washington. Kid was crazy in college and the talk of the offseason. Now he can’t play on Sundays? Nah don’t buy it. He needs more time on the field.

Exactly. Only so many balls to go around and he's new so lower on the pecking order. He needs more chances, but likely won't get them this year. Waaaay too early to tell with him.
