This league is a fucking joke. I love the Steelers, but my interest in the league has waned severely this year. I do spend money on tickets and merchandise too so it's a shame for the league.

I think the only reason I continue to watch is because I love the Steelers and have been watching them for 40 years.

That and my son currently plays high school football so I don’t want to take away his enjoyment.

Me personally though the NFL is Not For Long. I don’t aee myself having interest much longer with the way the game is not only officiated, but also orchestrated.

It’s become a sham of the sport it once was. I no longer watch any of the other games when in the past I would.

The last few years, I really don't watch other games hardly at all. I'll usually have the games on Sunday, but barely paying attention doing other things.

NFL popularity soared on the back of fantasy football, but now that the casual FF people are losing interest the NFL popularity will be on a slow, steady decline.

My interest has been waning. I no longer get upset at Steelers losses, and my highs are lower than they used to be when we win. I'll put the Steelers game on and watch it, but I keep Red Zone on and that's it the rest of the day. I used to try and get as many games on as many screens as possible.

I think this is partially due to the declining quality of the product. It's not even just the hits. Having seen first hand what CTE can do to retired players, I'm all about making that aspect of the game safer. But the NFL has gone too far with other aspects that have little to do with it, while remaining completely hypocritical in their supposed push for safety ("more games!").

Also the older I get, the much more I prefer rooting for my alma mater and watching CFB.

While Steelers will always be my one and only NFL team, I think, in terms of how much I care, I'm a bigger LSU fan than I am a Steelers fan at this point. 15 years ago, I didn't even watch CFB, and Steelers losses would put me in a bad mood for days. Weird how that has changed.

NYFL. National Yellow Flag League, let's look at that again, NYFL. National Yellow Flag League!

Competition Committee= ADDING MORE REASONS TO THROW YELLOW FLAGS OR GO TO REVIEW and stop the game every year!

What other sport adds or changes rules EVERY SINGLE YEAR?

Too many rules, too many penalties, too many reviews, too many stoppages of play. I watch the Steelers, no other games. But on DVR so I can FF through the continuous, constant nonsense.

Jerome Boger, Ed Hochuli, Tony Corrente! These are the leagues BIGGEST STARS who decide most of the games and get the most TV face time, Fans should buy their jerseys.

I would launch it at the office via trebuchet in 500 dollar bags of pennies, but I'm old fashioned.

Happy Birthday to him and I, I guess.

As he has been very outspoken about it, if I were JJ, I'd give him $20K for his birthday, on top of whatever he did give.

I listened to the first half of that game on the radio as I was driving back to Pittsburgh from seeing my parents.

Got home in time for the second half and fell asleep about 10 minutes into it.

And I'd say that's a pretty good representation of my interest in the NFL anymore.

My friend tried talking to me about fantasy football (which I've grown to despise) and I realized I probably couldn't name more than 6 or 7 starting RBs in the NFL right now. 15 years ago, I'd have known 90% of the depth charts, at least for the skill positions, for every team in the league.

The entire league has turned into nothing more than an inconvenience anymore.

If you're going to dish out these fines, should look into making it a percentage based on salary. That's not pocket money for Watt.

That’s like trying to insult me by saying I can go bang Charlotte McKinney. Ummmm ok.

On a positive note, at least we know Buddy Dupree’s money is safe.

Good. Call was basically bullshit, severity of the fine was ridiculous.

This.

I’d watch every game I could. No more. Losing my interest more and more with every ridiculous rule change affecting the game and yes the over officiating and as you said orchestrated. It’s a joke. The older players that lived the game must be beside theirselves.

I worked a weekend for the first time in 4 years and missed the Atlanta game. Wasn’t even upset.

I think there are two reasons...

1) the league has gone overboard with rule changes, officiating, and orchestrating outcomes.

2) Hardcore fans of this particular NFL team have come to realize the head coach is below the line and the staff in general is shit. So no matter the regular season W/L they will find a way to fuck it up.

And that’s whether facing Tom Brady or Smedley Smithers.

In other words, the game itself is crap and it’s hard to get behind this team because the staff is also crap and the team is populated with a bunch of self serving turds.

Excellent post. Couldn't agree more with every point.

There are always more posts after losses than wins. The Steelers won last week. Should the Steelers lose to the Bengals, I suspect we'll see an uptick in posts next week.
