Cardinals are apparently looking to unload Reddick because he doesn't fit their scheme.
I would offer them a 3rd today for him and throw him in at ILB.
He has athleticism that we simply lack.

Fair enough. What I saw on tape by Reddick compared to what I saw by Thomas, tells me they aren't as close in talent.

IDK. I think you can have more than one, right?

Reddick had more talent, that's why he was a 1st rounder. My thought was, 'we already have one of those and he doesn't even see the field.

Reddick would be a nice addition for the Steelers. Colbert, please make it happen. I think Matt Thomas should get some playing time. That strip sack/fumble recovery/75 yard return was sick.

Before they make any trades, I want to see more LJ Fort & Matthew Thomas.......And less Vince Williams.

Was it just us who liked him in the draft a few years back, or did the actual Steelers show interest, as well?

I remember a lot of us here liked the potential Reddick presented but knew he was well out of reach for the Steelers. I am curious what they desire in return for Reddick. I say send AB... straight up. :P

I agree.
Lets get thru Cincy game.
Hopefully if Vince Williams is healthy for the game,
that the coaching staff realizes they need to get faster and better in the middle
and at minimum, allow Fort and or Thomas to get on the field, shared snaps, rotation, etc.
and that VW does not go back to playing every single snap.

Thought they mentioned on MNF that Saints have a nice LB rotation that has an even amount of snaps to keep them fresh
maybe they mentioned 30 snaps apiece?
If anything, it keeps them fresh and it keeps them competing at their highest level, knowing the other guys may excell and take their snaps.

That has not happened with VW in the first 4 weeks as he has seen just about every single defensive snap before injury

As far as Reddick,
have not seen him play.
will have to watch next televised game or catch him online.
8 tackles
1 sack on Sunday, which was his best statistical game of his career.

Has he asked to be traded or has he become a team problem?

I see stories on why KC and Giants should trade for him.

He is the round peg being put in a square hole.
From what I hear, he doesn't fit the defense introduced by the new DC.

Reddick made a few dazzling plays against the Niners.

I dont view ILB as a huge need.

I view LG as a far bigger need

I'd say if we're looking at a mid-round pick, roll the dice. Can't hurt.

I'd give them a 5th for him at most.

He's a high 1st rounder, so he's expensive, probably $4M per year over the next three. Flip side is, if he works out, you have that 5th year option the Steelers like in 1st rounders.

So you're saying Reddick is MUCH better at actually playing the game of football?

I remember him being mocked to the Steelers from several sources.

Tomlin said that inside linebacker L.J. Fort (ankle) and safety Terrell Edmunds (calf) are both dealing with injuries suffered during the team’s Sunday home win over the Atlanta Falcons. Both players will now be monitored the remainder of the week during practice to see if they can play against the Bengals.

“We’ll see what that does to his availability at the early portions of the week and kind of let that be our guide,” Tomlin said of Fort’s ankle injury. “Edmunds has got a calf in a similar way.” https://www.steelers.com/news/tomlin-op ... of-support

Sorry fellas, this is a hard pass for me.

I looked at his contract, it looks to me that it is FULLY GUARANTEED.

He signed a 4 year deal for $13.5 million and it supposedly is fully guaranteed. They can't just cut him and get out from paying him what he has coming to him for the rest of the 2018 season, or 2019, or 2020.

Now, granted they have already dished out some $8.5 million to him already in the form of a signing bonus and base salary thus far.

But the guy only has 4 starts on his resume?

And if we traded for him and he turned out to be a bust it will cost us $5 million regardless? If he turns out to be a bust and we cut him right away, we still have to pay his 2019 salary, his 2020 salary?

Sorry, like I said, I take a pass on him, don't want to go down these type of rabbit holes with these messed up guaranteed contracts. Media types, former players all rant about getting more guaranteed money but there is a flip side to it. What if a player gets too comfortable? Feel like they don't have to put in the effort, practice, do film study, work to get better, if they have the money literally in the bank already, where is the motivation?

So, the original contract was 4 years, 13.5 million, and you're guesstimate is that they've already paid out 8.5 of it? That leaves two years at 2.5 million per. Okay, cut the punter and sign a street FA. Done. Now you've got a first round linebacker and a punter where previously you just had a punter.

No faith in Joey Porter's ability to work with the kid?

Ice, I just get a bad vibe on this trade. As I pointed out they have already paid out probably 65% of the contract. Even if you think he is a bad fit for your defense which is debatable IMO, what have you got to lose by keeping him around? It doesn't make any sense.

They didn't want to keep Honey Badger, I hear they don't want to keep Deon Buchannon and now they want to trade Reddick? Who next? Chandler Jones??

At 1-4, head coach Steve Wilks may not even be there next season. He is sort of like Tomlin, was a defensive backs coach, had one season as a DC with Carolina and then was made a head coach. Kinda of crazy to be purging your team of high draft picks and talented players. Some of it makes sense to me because they had Budda Baker to replace Honey Badger and Buchannon is probably going to be too expensive but you would think Reddick would be a perfect Will linebacker in that 4-3 defense.

Unless there is something to my speculation that Reddick is complacent, has a fully guaranteed contract and is coasting. Why would we want someone like that if it is true??

And like B2B said, we already have an athletic linebacker in Matthew Thomas.

If it really is just a crazy coach fire-saling defensive talent, that actually makes the trade more attractive to me, not less; and why not have two athletic linebackers (I'd actually posit that Bostic has shown some athleticism, too, so you'd maybe actually have three)?

I'm actually more interested in Deone Bucannon. He's your nickel backer from day 1, also has a chance as the long-term Mack to Thomas/Fort's Buck.

I guess I am just leery from the last 1st rounder we traded for from Arizona, remember OT Levi Brown, a high first rounder??

Arizona made it real attractive, ate some of his contract for that season, we gave up a pick and still had to deal with a 5 year $30 million contract. Traded for him in October and he was cut in March as I remember it.

Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice??
